JOE HUNTER MEHAFFEY JR. 1930 - 2007

Joe Hunter Mehaffey, Jr., devoted husband, beloved father, and loyal friend went to be with his Lord on July 2, 2007.

Joe was born in Columbus, Mississippi, October 27, 1930 to Joe Hunter Mehaffey, Sr. and Lyda Mae Mehaffey, and is preceded in death by them, as well as his sister, Mary Ann Mehaffey.

Joe served in the United States Marine Corp. as Staff Sergeant and served our country in the Korean War. Joe married Celia Charlene Sykes on December 19, 1954. He later graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He was an auditor for U.S Steel, and then employed by Monsanto Company as a Plant Accountant. After retirement from Monsanto in Pensacola, Joe performed consultant work for Evergreen Systems. He served as Commissioner for Midway Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years.

He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Gulf Breeze for 32 years. He was a member of Steeple People Bible Study Class. Joe will be fondly remembered for his love of fishing, and skeet shooting with family and friends.
