JOHN V. BYRNE

John V. Byrne, age 86, of Milton, FL, passed away July 4th, 2007 at home after battling Leukemia for 9 months. John was born in Grand Rapids, Mich. and retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Co after a 37 year career where he had assignments in both Lansing and Grand Rapids, MI. He moved to Gulf Breeze, Fla. in 1980 where he served as the volunteer coordinator for the expansion of the Gulf Breeze Library and moved to Milton in 2001. John most recently attended services at the East Brent Baptist Church. John was an avid golfer and jogger through much of his life and competed in many distance running events.

John's wife of 61 years, Hazel Byrne, passed away two years ago. His daughter, Eileen Byrne, passed away in 1968. He is survived by his sons: Jack and his wife Darlene of Gulf Breeze, Tom and his wife Starr of Milton, his grandchildren, Jack Byrne Jr. of Flint, Mich., Merrie Crisman of Newaygo, Mich., Steve Trimmer, Tom Byrne Jr. of Pensacola, Lori Byrne of Milton, and Michael Byrne, his great grandchildren: Christopher and Jessica Chrisman, Leila and Sheila Trimmer, Randy Byrne of Milton, Anthony and Zacrye Byrne of Pensacola, and his great great grandchild: Brenden Fabiano.

A service was held at East Brent Baptist Church on July 6. Viewing at 1 p.m. and service at 2 p.m.. John will then be transported to Portland, Mich. to be buried alongside his wife and daughter at the Portland Cemetery.
