Two young women in their early 20s were seriously injured when their car crashed into the Sea Green Center last Thursday night. According to police, the car careened over the Highway 98 median after departing the Pensacola Beach offramp at a high rate of speed, and was launched into the shopping center. The forward momentum of the car was so great that even when the reinforced concrete structure stopped the car itself, the engine separated from the car and continued into the office.

Alcohol is suspected in the wreck, and charges are pending in the ongoing investigation. Police sources say both girls should fully recover, but are still hospitalized.
