Kate Turner is the Kid of the Week
Kate's most recent accomplishments include playing leads in musicals. She has been involved in choreography, set building and dance instruction in some of these productions. Kate has successfully competed in district and state thespian high school competitions since her enrollment in GBHS. Kate dances Tap and Jazz at Pensacola Ballet. She also excels in voice and recently won first place in the senior division in a local high school classical voice competition. Kate is a member of the Shakespeare Company at Pensacola Little Theatre and has been a member of the Pensacola Children's Chorus for the past 8 years. She is the latest recipient of the Ashley Brown Alumni Scholarship which is given to a chorus member who is a leader and shows talent and interest in musical theater. Kate is volunteer teacher for the third year at the Gulf Breeze High School Drama summer Camp. She is an active member of Gulf Breeze High School Optimist Club and participates in their community service projects. Kate sings at Gulf Breeze Methodist Church in the praise band. When the GFWC Milton Woman's Club, Inc. presented the 1st Annual Women in the Arts Awards on Tuesday, June 12 at the Santa Rosa County Auditorium Kate won for Drama in the 12-18 years of age group. We are going to be hearing more from Kate! Kid of the Week will be a feature inset of the Gulf Breeze News Talk of the Town column.
