Megan Pewitt is the Kid of the Week

Megan Pewitt is the kid of the week. She is 9 years old and the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James (Dana) Pewitt and the granddaughter of Mrs. Jonnie Pewitt. Her father Jim is a local family dentist and her mother, Dana, manages the house, home and family.

On June 2, Megan and Dana participated, along with approximately 80 ladies and 15 kids, in the Fishin'Chix Club's Pensacola Pink Rubber Boots Ladies Fishing Rodeo. They were fishing inshore on Pensacola Bay near Milton and to her surprise and delight, Megan Pewitt won first place in the Speckled Trout division. She simply caught the biggest speckled trout! She was so excited!

Megan attends Oriole Beach Elementary school where she will enter the fourth grade in the fall. She is a very smart young lady who scored perfect on her FCAT in the third grade. Her brother Mac aced the FCATS last year. Megan loves ballet, jazz and tap dancing and takes lessons from the Margie Shortt Dance Studio. She loves drama and the theatre and is currently enrolled in a Summer Drama Camp at Gulf Breeze High. Her mom, Dana, says "Megan is very sweet and intelligent." Jonnie, Megan's grandmother, declares, "Megan is wonderful granddaughter and the best decision I ever made was to move here from my home of 40 years in Huntsville so I could be near my grandchildren, Megan and Mac."
