Baseball coach warns of poster advertising scam Area businesses, beware of individuals or companies scamming you and our local high school organizations! While attending lunch at a local restaurant, I noticed a poster with Gulf Breeze Baseball printed across the top and High School down the left side with a downloaded copy of the baseball schedule and local advertisements. Upon asking the restaurant owner about the poster, he was under the assumption he was solicited by the GBHS Baseball Booster Organization over the phone for ad space on the poster. This particular poster is not the one our booster club presents to our community nor is it as professionally done as ours. Local businesses, please be aware that if you are solicited by our local high school organizations for support, that your "donations" for your ads or other support will be made payable to either GBHS or the Booster Club of the high school organization and you will be contacted in person as opposed to over the phone. Our high school sports receive no funding from the school district or the school and rely solely on our fundraisers for support in purchasing uniforms, paying our referees, and all equipment used during our respective seasons. It is a true shame that someone is not only scamming our local high school sports programs, but our local businesses as well. Randy Renfroe GBHS Head Baseball Coach |
