Hall to bid for second term

Hall
Wendell Hall announced his intention to pursue a third term as Sheriff of Santa Rosa County. Hall says the challenges facing Santa Rosa County over the next five years including rapid population growth as well as the potential for major tax reform require experience at the helm of the Sheriff's Office. Hall cites his six years as Sheriff and the progress made during his two terms making him well qualified to be re-elected for Sheriff.

"Since electing me as Sheriff in 2000 we have continued an open door policy resulting in over 1000 citizen appointments; 1400 civic group presentations or meetings; 6000responses to citizen telephone calls; as well as active involvement in all Santa Rosa County Chambers of Commerce," Hall said in a prepared statement.

"We have continued our partnership with the Santa Rosa County School Board by maintaining a proven juvenile unit and placing school resource officers in our schools to provide security, decrease incidence of violence and mentoring of young people."

"We continue to adhere to the citizens' complaints of traffic problems by supporting a traffic unit that addresses multiple traffic concerns including speeding; driving under the influence and providing citizens with resources to ensure their families are safe while they travel the highways within our county."

Following Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis, disaster preparedness has been at the forefront of our daily operations. The Sheriff's department developed a disaster preparedness plan that includes valuable resources to support agency operations in the event of any emergency. These resources include the addition of a Command Vehicle that has the capability of supporting all communications requirements of the agency for field personnel as well as a disaster response trailer that will provide logistical support during times of emergency and natural disaster.

Hall says these are only a few accomplishments made since he was elected Sheriff in 2000. Hall says it is his deepest desire to continue in our efforts to make Santa Rosa County the safest county possible and seeks the citizen's support for his reelection.
