ERNEST PORTER 1922-2007 Ernest E. Porter went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, surrounded by his precious family he loved so much. He was born May 2, 1922, in Duncan, Okla. but early in life moved to Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Porter has been a resident of Gulf Breeze for the past 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Having served his country faithfully for 20 years he retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He worked at the Naval Air Rework Facility for another 20 years. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Gulf Breeze and was a faithful member of his Sunday School class for as long as he was able to attend. Throughout his life, Mr. Porter has been a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Preceded in death by his loving son, Jimmy; he is now enjoying their long awaited reunion. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Margie Caylor Porter; one brother, William C. Porter (Bette) of Atlanta, Georgia; two loving daughters, Janice Porter West (Carter) of Niceville and Patti Porter Fitch (Dennis) of Gulf Breeze; five granddaughters, Holly Lange (Rich) of Niceville and Lindsay, Molli, Natalie and Hayley Bass, all of Gulf Breeze; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Summer Lange of Niceville; many other family and friends; and his devoted little dog, Wolfie. Funeral services were held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home, Gulf Breeze on Monday, June 18. Mr. Porter was buried with full military honors at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Caylor, Dr. Mark Caylor, Dennis Fitch, Rich Lange and Carter West. Our loving husband, father and grandfather will be greatly missed this Father's Day, but will forever be in our hearts.
