Sports Connection takes fourth at End of Season Tourney

Jason Thompson/Gulf Breeze News Fourth place finish The Sports Connection recently finished fourth at the Dizzy Dean End of the Season Tournament at Shoreline Park. The Sports Connection, a GBSA-based Minor League team finished fourth out of 25 teams at the recent End of the Season Tournament at Shoreline Park.

The following is a recap of how all GBSA and Tiger Point minor league teams did through the first four days of the tournament (the final few games have already run in a previous issue):

Game 2 Bellview Red Sox 10, GBSA Sidelines 5 - Zane Gill doubled twice and drove in two runs, while Jace Amberson, George Scifo and Dylan Stamenkovich all scored runs in Sidelines' first round loss May 18.

Game 5 GBSA Crabs 9, Tiger Point Cardinals 6 - Julian Gordon drove in three runs, while Sam Joyce and Sam Covell both scored twice for the win for Crabs in their tournament opener on May 18.

Game 6 Cantonment Gamecocks 13, Tiger Point Pirates 5 - Christian Haub had a hit and scored a run in a loss for the Pirates in their opener on May 18. Zach Arner, Storm Pandola, Cameron Fields and Anthony Deb all scored one run each.

Game 8 GBSA Gulf Breeze News 7, Myrtle Grove Cubs 1 - Logan Smith had two hits and scored twice, while Peyton Hoover added an RBI triple for the Gulf Breeze News in an opening round win on May 19.

Mitch Grant, Josh Argentine, Parker Johnson and Jacob Goyins all scored once in the win.

Game 12 Cantonment Bama 13, GBSA Ueberschaer 4 - Nick Henry and Troy Stringfellow both had two hits and scored twice for Ueberschaer in an opening round loss May 19.

Game 15 Bill Bond Jerry's Drive In 13, GBSA Sports Connection 1 - Bradley Proctor had two hits and scored the lone run, while Riley Nolan had the team's only other hit in an opening round loss on May 19.

Game 16 Cantonment Jaguars 10, GBSA Gulf Breeze News 4 - Grayson Davis, Mitch Grant, Josh Argentine and Logan Smith all scored in a second round loss on May 19.

Game 18 GBSA Sidelines 12, Myrtle Grove Marlins 0 - Jace Amberson, Zane Gill, Jacob Kubik, Trey Smith and Harper Norris all scored twice in an first round elimination game on May 19.

Game 21 Navarre Salter Masonry 10, Tiger Point Cardinals 8 - Chase Rollins and Josh Irby both scored twice in a win for Salter Masonry in a first round elimination game May 19.

Nolan Blanchard, Devon Adams and Devin Gura all scored twice for the Cardinals.

Game 27 Cantonment Gamecocks 7, GBSA Crabs 5 - Sam Covell scored twice, while Sam Joyce and Michael Flake both scored once in a third round loss May 20.

Game 29 GBSA Sidelines 15, Cantonment Bulldogs 1 - Dylan Stamenkovich and Jacob Kubik scored three times, while Jace Amberson, Zane Gill, Will Musmansky and George Scifo all scored twice in a second round elimination game May 20.

Game 30 GBSA Sports Connection 12, Navarre Mustangs 1 - Corey Nolan hit a three-run homer, while Riley Nolan and Adam Colston both scored three times in a second round elimination game May 20.

Matthew Tebo scored the lone run for the Mustangs.

Game 32 GBSA Ueberschaer 14, Myrtle Grove Pepsi 0 - Nick Henry, Troy Stringfellow and Brandon Bell scored three times, while Zak Dobar and Alex Thompson both scored twice for Ueberschaer in a second round elimination May 20.

Game 33 Cantonment Bama 8, GBSA Sidelines 0 - Zane Gill and David Carbaugh had the lone hits for Sidelines in a third round elimination game May 20.

Game 34 GBSA Sports Connection 10, Brent Pepsi 0 - Riley Nolan and Mitchell Robbins both scored three times, while Corey Nolan scored twice in a third round elimination game May 20.

Game 36 GBSA Ueberschaer 7, GBSA Crabs 5 - Nick Henry, Zak Dobar and Garner Curington all scored twice in a third round elimination game win on May 20.

Troy Stringfellow scored once in the win, while Cole Brown had two runs with an RBI for Crabs. Sam Joyce and Julian Gordon both scored once in the loss.

Game 39 GBSA Sports Connection 5, Cantonment Bama 4 - Riley Nolan scored three times, while Adam Colston and Bradley Proctor both scored once in a fourth round elimination game May 21.

Game 40 GBSA Ueberschaer 4, Bellview Red Sox 2 - Troy Stringfellow scored twice, while Zak Dobar and Garner Curington both scored once in a fourth round elimination game May 21.
