GBSA U16s second at NWFGSA All Star Tournament
Milam throws nohitter, strikes out 17 in 8-0 win

The Gulf Breeze U16 All Stars fell one win short of repeating as tournament champs at the Northwest Florida Girls Softball Association's All Star Tournament, losing to Northeast Pensacola in the finals on Thursday and Friday.

NEP7, GBSA 6: Gulf Breeze rallied from 6-0 down, but the potential tying run was thrown out at home to end the game.

Caroline Ennis' three-run single pulled Gulf Breeze to within 6-4. Lauren Alverson's RBI single scored Ennis to make it 6-5 before Alverson scored on a Cheyenne Chapman groundout to tie it.

Caroline Waghalter doubled twice in the loss.

NEP 2, GBSA 1: NEP forced the 'if' game by scoring the eventual winning run on a wild pitch in the fourth inning.

Alison Milam tripled and scored on a passed ball to lead off the first inning. Milam struck out 11 in the loss.

Breezy Paulus, Chapman and Lindsey Hawthorne all had hits in the loss.

GBSA 9, Orange Beach 0: Alison Milam and Lindsey Hawthorne combined for a no-hitter and nine strikeouts in an opening round win over Orange Beach on June 2.

Milam also homered, going 2-for-2 and scoring twice. Haley Bohannon, Caroline Waghalter, Katie Aldridge and Cheyenne Chapman all had two hits and two runs scored, while Breezy Paulus scored twice and Amanda Curington had two hits.

GBSA 8, Bellview 0: Milam came within one walk of a perfect game, throwing a no-hitter and striking out 17 in a six inning win June 4.

Milam went 3-for-3 with a double and scored twice, while Caroline Ennis had two hits, including a double, and scored twice. Bohannon, Ashley Scott and Lauren Alverson all singled and scored in the win.
