Dizzy Dean districts this weekend For the third consecutive weekend, Shoreline Park will be full of baseball activity as five Dizzy Dean District Tournaments will be held there, starting Friday. The U6 through U10 tournaments will be hosted there, while the U11 age groups and older will be in Cantonment. The U6 tournament will be held on Field 7. The tournament only features three teams - GBSA, Tiger Point and Perdido. The three teams will play each other Saturday morning Tiger Point vs Perdido (8 a.m.), Tiger Point vs. GBSA (9:30) and Perdido vs. GBSA (11). They'll then be seeded in a three team, single elimination tournament Sunday, with the first game at 1 p.m. and the final at 2:30 p.m. In the U7 bracket, also to be played on Field 7, starts at 12:30 p.m. Saturday with Bill Bond taking on the host team. Perdido and Navarre will play in the other semifinal game at 2 p.m. The losers will play at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, with the winners playing at 5 p.m. The championship game is slated for 6 p.m. Sunday, with the 'if' game at 7:30 p.m. A total of 13 teams will compete in the U8 bracket, which will play at Field 8. The host squad drew a first round bye and won't play until 3:30 p.m. against Friday's Cantonment-Tiger Point American squad. Tiger Point National, like their American counterparts, have a Saturday morning game. National plays Bellview Gold at 11 a.m., with American playing at 9:30 a.m. Teams from Perdido, Myrtle Grove, Navarre and Brent will competed in the double-elimination tournament will end Wednesday at 6 p.m. or in the 'if' game at 7:30 p.m. Nine teams will competed in the U9 division, which will be played on Field 5. Tiger Point plays Bellview at 6 p.m. in the 'play-in' game, while the hosts take on Cantonment at 9:45 a.m. Saturday. The two teams could square off in a winners bracket semifinals Saturday at 3 p.m. Also in the bracket are Bill Bond, Myrtle Grove, Brent, Navarre and Perdido. The final of the double-elimination bracket is Tuesday at 6 p.m., with the 'if' game scheduled at 7:45 p.m. Ten teams will competed in the 10U division on Field 6. The host team will face Navarre in one of the two 'play in' games Friday at 6 p.m., while Tiger Point will open tournament play Saturday at 9:45 a.m. against Bill Bond. The two teams could meet in a winners bracket semifinal at 8 p.m. Saturday. Cantonment, City of Pensacola, Brent, Bellview, Myrtle Grove and Perdido will also be competing. The championship game is scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. with the 'if' game at 7:45 p.m. |
