Alt named OBE principal

Oriole Beach Elementary School has a new principal. As of June 1, Dawn Alt is officially the Oriole Beach school's new principal. But she is not new to the county school district -- since she has been serving as West Navarre Intermediate School's assistant principal last year.

"I am thrilled to have been selected by the school board as the principal of Oriole Beach Elementary. Oriole Beach has such a rich history and wonderful reputation and I feel honored to now be a part of that history," Alt said.

Also, she is very familiar with the Gulf Breeze school system, since her husband, Matt Alt, teaches at Gulf Breeze Middle and coaches at Gulf Breeze High.

"I live in the Oriole Beach community so I have a great commitment to prepare the children of this area to be the very best that they can be, not just academically but socially and morally," she said. "Being a school administrator is not just a job for me but it is a way of life. It is a profession that I cherish and take very seriously."

She received both her undergraduate and masters' degrees are from Troy State University. She has two children, Whitney and Hayes Holland.

Principal Alt said this week, "I can hardly wait for the beginning of the school year so that I can meet the teachers, staff and students!"
