Shoreline Park hosts inaugural End of Season Tournament
Huggins homers three times to lead Tiger Point team to opening round win

More than a dozen GBSA and Tiger Point Rookie (8-under) and Minor League (10-under) teams played in the recent inaugural Dizzy Dean End of the Season Tournament at Shoreline Park.

The following is a recap of how local rookie league teams fared in the first four days of the tournament May 18-21.

Rookie League

Game 5 Navarre Vinnie R's 15, GBSA Gulf Stream Cleaning 6 - Derek Baumgardner and Zack Lingo both had two doubles and scored three times to lead Vinnie R's to an opening round win May 18.

Joseph McPhetridge homered in the loss, while Jacob Thomas hit a two-run triple. Trey Owens, Tyler Bailey and Chandler Moss all singled and scored once.

Game 8 Navarre Grimes and Sons 13, GBSA Innerlight 7 - Cyrus Grimes hit a three-run homer, while Jace Kempner had three hits and scored three times to lead Grimes and Sons to an opening round win May 19.

Jesse Grant and Grant Kemp both scored twice, while Jacob Brandon and Nick McCain both had two hits and scored once.

Game 10 Tiger Point Cardinals 17, Bill Bond Beef O'Brady's 2 - Stephen Huggins homered three times and drove in eight runs to lead the Cardinals to an opening round win May 19.

Nick Myers had four hits and scored four times, while Dustin Rogers had three hits and three runs scored and Nico Ynostrosa three hits and two runs scored.

Game 11 GBSA G Daniel Green 11, GBSA UBS Financial 0 - Luke Chastain, Christopher Bougher, Alex Grimes, Noah Woods and Parker Baynes all scored twice in a second round win on May 19.

Game 12 GBSA McCain/Herring 10, Tiger Point Diamondbacks 2 - Kegan Walker scored twice, while Cole Sheppard and Reddon McLaurine both had two hits and scored once in a second round win May 19.

R.J. Philips and Jack Martin both scored for the Diamondbacks.

Game 18 Tiger Point Cardinals 7, Bellview Braves 0 - Nico Ynostrosa had two hits and scored twice, while Nick Myers had two hits and scored once for the Cardinals in a second round game May 19.

Wesley Routh had a double and scored once.

Game 25 GBSA UBS Financial 16, Perdido Cardinals 15 - Chandler Burt's single scored Patrick Hodges for the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth of an elimination game May 19.

Spencer Grace, Brent Williams and Tyler Phelps all scored three times, while Chase Allen and Hodges both scored twice.

Game 29 GBSA UBS Financial 15, GBSA McCain/Hering 14 - Parker Baynes' three run homer capped a seven-run fifth for UBS Financial in a third round quarterfinal game on May 19.

Daniel Green, Alec Grimes, Benton Byrd and Noah Woods all scored twice in the win, while Cole Sheppard doubled and scored three times in the loss.

Connor Thompson, Reddon McLaurine, Jake Hering and Kegan Walker all scored twice for McCain/Hering.

Game 32 Tiger Point Tigers 8, Tiger Point Cardinals 7 - Maverick Zanca's RBI scored Kohl McConaghy for the gamewinner for the Tigers in a third round quarterfinal game May 20.

Bobby Murphy and Colton Printiss both scored twice, while Nico Ynostrosa scored twice for the Cardinals.

Game 33 Brent Marlins 14, GBSA Hill Kelly Dodge 5 - Josh Smith scored twice, while Nick Lukkar and Braden Fiveash both scored once in a second round elimination game May 20.

Game 35 Tiger Point Diamondbacks 9, GBSA UBS Financial 3 - Trevor Robinson and R.J. Philips both scored twice, while Jack Martin, James Parsons, Samuel Basham and David Broadhurst all scored once in a second round elimination win on May 20.

Brent Williams, Tyler Phelps and Baylan Denson all scored once in the loss.

Game 38 GBSA McCain/Hering 11, Bellview Braves 10 - Cole Sheppard had four hits and scored three times, while Connor Thompson and Taylor Kehoe both scored twice in a third round elimination game May 21.

Game 41 Brent Yankees 11, GBSA G Daniel Green 5 - Brian Joyner scored twice and Daniel Green, Parker Baynes and Noah Woods all scored once in a loss in the winners bracket semifinals on May 21.

Game 43 Brent Marlins 5, GBSA McCain/Hering 4 - Cole Sheppard homered and scored three times, while Kegan Walker doubled and scored once in a fourth round elimination game May 21.
