GB 10s, 9s win Cinco de Mayo Tournament, 8-year-olds second

A pair of Gulf Breeze teams won their age bracket at the recent Cinco de Mayo Tournament in Navarre.

The 10-under All Stars won four to win the title, while the 9- under team bounced back from an opening round loss to win their division. The 8-under team lost to the Lynn Haven Longhorns in the championship game.

10-under

Gulf Breeze 14, Navarre 4: Cole Nitterauer threw four innings of no-hit ball, while Nick Henry scored four times to lead Gulf Breeze over Navarre.

Jacob Kubik had a double, a single and scored three times, while Mitchell Robbins had two singles, double and scored once.

Sam Covell, Riley Nolan and Zack Argentine all had a single and scored once.

Gulf Breeze 11, Destin Sluggers 1: Robbins struck out nine in four innings, while collecting two hits of his own to lead Gulf Breeze to a win over the Sluggers.

Kubik and Covell both had two singles and scored twice, while Henry and Peyton Hoover both had a single, a double and scored once.

Nolan had a single and scored twice, while William Lambert had a single and scored once.

Josh Argentine doubled for Gulf Breeze.

Gulf Breeze 17, Tiger Point 3: Covell and Henry combined on a four-hitter to lead Gulf Breeze into the championship game.

Covell also had two singles and scored three times, while Nitterauer and Zack Argentine both had three hits and scored once. Robbins had two hits and scored twice, while Will Green had a hit and scored twice.

Henry doubled and scored once, while Kubik, Nolan and Josh Argentine single and scored once.

Alex McDonald had a double, a single and scored a run for Tiger Point. Dylan Hanks and Taylor Lindemann both hit doubles.

Gulf Breeze 11, Navarre 5: Henry and Kubik both tripled and scored twice as Gulf Breeze beat Navarre in the title game.

Robbins, who pitched the first four innings, and Hoover doubled and scored once, while

Nolan and Josh Argentine both singled and scored once. Lambert hit a single in the win.

9-under

Navarre 10s 10, Gulf Breeze 1: Gulf Breeze scored the game's first run before Navarre's 10-year-olds scored 10 unanswered.

Adam Colston singled and scored the lone run for Gulf Breeze. Jace Amberson, Zane Gill, Julian Gordon, Corey Nolan, Wade Niles and Nick Liebig all had a hit in the loss.

Gulf Breeze 18, Tiger Point 2: Amberson had three hits and scored three times as Gulf Breeze rolled to a win over Tiger Point.

Bradley Proctor scored three times, while Sam Joyce, Gill, Nolan, Niles and Liebig all scored twice. Gill, Proctor and Liebig all had two hits in the win.

Gant Player singled, doubled and scored once for Tiger Point, while Zach Arner doubled and scored once.

Gulf Breeze 5, Navarre 9s 1: Gill threw a one-hitter and struck out five as Gulf Breeze won the championship.

Gordon scored twice and drove in a run, while Gill, Nolan and Colston all scored once.

8-under

The Gulf Breeze team split two games in pool play before winning two in elimination play. In one of their pool play games, Gulf Breeze was held to two runs by Lynn Haven. The Dolphins got two home runs from William Welch in the title game, but Gulf Breeze still lost 20-12.

Welch hit four home runs in the tournament, while Parker Baynes was 10-for-13 at the plate for a .769 average. Tyler Phelps and Brett Pardonner hit their first ever home runs in the title game.
