GBES third graders learn about local fire department

Submitted Photo Fun field trip Members of Patti Triplett's third grade class at Gulf Breeze Elementary learned about the fire department.
Recently Mrs. Triplett's third grade class had a real eye opener. Mr. Casey Martin and his crew from the Gulf Breeze Fire Department met the class at Shoreline Park to demonstrate and share what the Fire and Rescue division does for our community.

The third graders studied communities past and present throughout the year while honoring and adopting the Gulf Breeze Police and Fire department as community leaders.

The fire and rescue team consisting of Henry Belk, Tyler Conroy, Dave England, Gerald Parris and Kyle Simms, simulated a water rescue using one of the team members and the fire boat in the sound. The students and teacher were amazed at what they are capable of doing for our community which is surrounded by water.

These highly trained men and women showed the third graders that being the best at what you choose to do is the key to success. They set the example of being there for others and doing their job to the best of your ability. Much more was learned about water safety in general and how to use this paradise we live in without getting hurt or hurting others.

"One of the reasons that Gulf Breeze is such a safe and caring community is having talented people like these to lean on when help is needed," Triplett said.
