On the Spot:
Do you think free-roaming cat colonies at public parks are a blessing or a nuisance?
By Franklin Hayes

"All animals exist for one reason or another. Why impede on their area? The cats could be a nuisance if they're attacking people. But, pigeons and seagulls are filthy and they don't eradicate them. I hate the though of things being killed for no reason." -Daniel Moore Pensacola
"Feral cats do carry diseases if they haven't been vaccinated. I agree with [the city] coming out here and taking care of the situation. There's a whole public safety thing you have to be aware of." -David Carson Gulf Breeze
"I think that would be a nuisance [at Shoreline Park South] with kids. Cat's don't clean up after themselves. I hate to see any animal put to sleep, but that could be a danger with kids." -Stacey Russo Pensacola
"I noticed a lot of cats live under the bridge [near Wayside Park]. If something's not done, they'll keep multiplying. If people want to take them home, that's great. There probably aren''t many people that will want to take them home." -Ken Chase Gulf Breeze
