'Faces of Life' wins national publishing award

"Faces of Life," a book released by Covenant Hospice last year, recently won one of 65 awards granted in the national Independent Publisher Book Awards. A total of 2,690 national entries came from all 50 U.S. states, 8 Canadian provinces, and 17 countries overseas.

The hard cover book won the bronze award in the Aging/ Death & Dying category. Gold medal was won by "Unplugged: Reclaiming Our Right to Die in America," by William H. Colby (Amacom), and second place laurels were afforded to "Dying Was the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me," by William E. Hablitzel, MD (Sunshine Ridge Publishing).

The book was also recognized by the The Pensacola and Northwest Florida Coast chapters of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA). An Image Award and a Grand Image Award in the "Printed Tools of Public Relations" category.

The 96-page hard back book contains inspirational stories from Covenant Hospice patients and their loved ones. Each story is accompanied by a beautiful black and white photograph taken by local professional photographers who donated their time and talent to the project.

The Faces of Life book, with a forward written by healthcare professional, author and speaker Quint Studer, can be purchased at any Covenant Hospice branch office or online at www.covenanthospice. org or www.amazon.com. The book sells for only $29.95.

Proceeds from the book will benefit unfunded and under-funded special programs and indigent patient care. Regardless of insurance coverage, no patient is ever turned away from Covenant Hospice, and the not-for-profit organization assists over 1,100 patients daily.
