Rotary Club honors GBHS students
Leah Allen (cross country) - Leah is a scholar athlete for cross country and track. She received the gold level congressional award. She is an AP scholar with Honor, National Merit Commended Scholar and District Writing PRIDE award. Leah plans to attend Wake Forest. Lindsey Arnett (junior class president) - Lindsey has been in Student Council for three years. She plays soccer for Bayside as well as for GBHS.
Jessica Boulton (technology) - Jessica is a lifelong resident of Gulf Breeze and will graduate from GBHS in May. She has been a member of the Interact service club for 2 1/2 years and has completed many service projects in this organization. Jessica will be attending The Art Institute in Tampa and will study Web Design. Debra Bremer (art) - Debra loves art and spending time with her friends. She will be attending UWF in the fall and wants to become an architect. Kelly Clay (SGA President) - Kelly plans to attend Florida Gulf Coast Univ. and major in elementary education. She has been in SGA for four years. Kourtney Clopton (dance team) - Kourtney has been on the dance team for one year. She plans to attend the Univ. of North Florida and major in the nursing field. Brandon Creager (basketball) - Brandon plans to attend the Univ. of West Florida and major in Business Accounting. He has played basketball all his life and all four years in high school. Mary Kate Crooke (volleyball) - Mary Kate has played volleyball for seven years. She will be playing volleyball at Spring Hill College. Emmalyn Daniel (track) - Emmalyn represented GBHS at regionals in Jacksonville in the 400 and with the 4x800 relay team. She is a three year soccer player and is a recruit on the University of Alabama's soccer team. Emmalyn attends PJC as an Early Admissions student. Matthew Dannheisser (freshman class president) - Matthew participates in cross country, track and wrestling. He is also a member of the Optimist and Key Clubs. Will Dirschka (science) - Will has been a competitor on the Science Olympiad team which has been state champion, allowing him to compete at the National Science Olympiad for seven years in a row. Will and four classmates represented GBHS in Feb. at the Washington, DC JSA Congress. Will has volunteered in the Teen Court program since its beginning in Gulf Breeze last year. Emily Felkner (tennis) - Emily will be attending The Ohio State University to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. She recently finished her third year of varsity tennis. She is vice president of the French Club and a member of the French Honor Society and the National Honor Society. Thomas Gibble (cross country) - Thomas is captain of the District 1-2A cross country team. He lettered in cross country, soccer and track as well as maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. Cory Gibson (soccer) - Cory has signed with Division I Jacksonville University. He tied Gulf Breeze High's record with 33 goals and has been a three year varsity player. Michelle Hampton (Spanish) - Michelle will be attending the Univ. of West Florida and major in education. Michelle has been a cheerleader for 10 years. She has taken Spanish for four years. Anthony Hofius (Latin) - Anthony is planning to attend the University of Florida. He is president of three organizations, Club and Chess Club. He is also working on becoming an Eagle Scout. Nikolas 'Nik' Hoskins (tennis) - Nik has played tennis all four years of high school. He is also a member of the National Honor Society. He plans to attend the Univ. of Central Florida. Jacob Hurst (wrestling) - Jacob has wrestled all four years of high school. He is the first wrestling district champion in Gulf Breeze High's history. Nic Johansen (mathematics) - Nic will be attending the Univ. of Florida. He has been a member of the Key Club for four years (treasurer, senior year) and is also a member of the National Honor Society. Patrick King (weightlifting) - Patrick will be attending the Naval Academy Prep School in Newport, Rhode Island. He went to state in weightlifting. Cori Linville (golf) - Cori has received an academic scholarship to attend Eckerd College. Cori has played on the GBHS golf team and the softball team for all four years of high school. Johnathon Lott (social studies) - Johnathon is a National Merit Finalist. Johnathon is a Santa Rosa County district PRIDE winner. Johnathon plans to attend the University of Florida's Honor College. Kendall Matthews (drama) - Kendall will be attending the University of Central Florida and major in theatre. She received a superior ranking in state competition recently. Brad McGuire (baseball) - Brad plans to attend the Univ. of Louisiana-Lafayette. He has been involved in football and baseball all four years of high school. He is presently a full time Early Admissions student at PJC. Laura 'Alli' Mead (senior class president) - Alli plans to go to the University of Florida and study orthopedics. Kyle Messer (cheerleader) - Kyle has cheered two years in high school. He plans to attend Florida State Univ. and major in graphic design. Stephen Miller (golf) - Stephen has played varsity golf for three years. He plans to attend LSU in the fall and major in building construction management. Aubrie Offerdahl (SGA secretary) - Aubrie has been a active member of the student council for four years. She plans to attend the Univ. of West Florida and double major in journalism and history. Katherine (Katie) Patterson (soccer) - Katie has played soccer for 13 years and has been team captain for one year. Katie plans to attend the Univ. of North Florida. Melia Plemons (sophomore class president) - Melia is on the Pensacola Yacht Club Juniro Sailing team. She is a member of FBLA and wants to go to FSU. Douglas (Dax) Powers (SGA Treasurer) - Dax has been in SGA for four years. Dax will be attending David Lipscomb Univ. in Nashville on a full scholarship. He plans to major in business and minoring in Biology/Bible. Jason Pugh (football) - Jason plans to attend Florida State Univ. and major in business and marketing. He is a member of the National Honor Society. Gabrielle Randall (basketball) - Gaby has played basketball for six years. She plans to attend Southeastern Assemblies of God University in the fall. She aspires to be a secondary mathematics major with a minor in psychology. Adrienne Randel (weightlifting) - Adrienne plans to attend Florida State Univ. to pursue a dental career. She has been the Most Valuable Player for girls weightlifting all four years and placed fourth in the state this year. Maggie Routt (yearbook) - Maggie was the 2006-2007 yearbook editor and the yearbook won first place in 2006. Maggie was a Florida Scholastic Press Association student representative. Jay 'Jim' Schmitz (swimming) - Jim was captain of the swim team this past season. He will be swimming for Rollins College next year and hopefully, for four years. He plans to major in political science and minor in film. He hopes to attend law school after college and was voted Class Clown. Summer Schuler (swimming) - Summer has been on the swim team for four years and went to state. She plans to attend Florida State University. Ellen Schwier (newspaper) - Ellen is editor of our award-winning school newspaper. Ellen is a National Merit Commended student. Ellen's Muslim class paper was presented at the UWF sixth annual Women's Conference. Sean Seales (track) - Sean went to regionals for the mile and the 4x800 meter relay and to state in the 4x800. Sean plans to attend Florida State University. Carl Sears (band) - Carl has played the clarinet for seven years. He was first chair for the All County Honor Band and is in the Troy Honor Band. He was also the only person in Santa Rosa County to make the All State Symphonic Band. Sarah Sydow (language arts) - Sarah will be attending the Univ. of South Florida and majoring in anatomy, spanish and music. Sarah will be taking part in the drumline at the University of South Florida playing cymbals. Morgan Tibbs (SGA Vice President) - Morgan has been swimming for eight years and will be swimming for Florida Gulf Coast Univ. this fall, majoring in premed. She has also been a SGA member for two years. Ashley Wheeler (ROTC) - Ashley has been in ROTC all four years of high school. She has worked her way up and is currently holding the second highest position. Ashley has done numerous volunteer projects including folding the American flag that are hung in all of the Gulf Breeze schools. She is currently the Team Captain for Relay For Life as well as the child entertainment chair. |
