Principal leaving Oriole Beach for district job

Sherry Diamond knows how busy you can get when you are trying to end one job while beginning another.

Diamond is Oriole Beach Elementary School's principal. She has been for the last nine years, but this is her last couple weeks in that job. She is moving up - to work as Director of Elementary School Education for the entire county.

"I am excited about the process of the new opportunity, but also have a heavy heart leaving someplace where I have been so very happy," Diamond said.

Diamond started at Oriole Beach Elementary 12 years ago, but the first three years served as assistant principal. "I've loved every minute here at Oriole Beach. But I know I am going to love working to keep improving the entire elementary program for the 17 elementary schools in Santa Rosa County."

She said no one has been chosen yet to fill the principal's position at Oriole Beach, but that is to be done at the May 21 school board meeting. "There are a lot of good candidates. I know the next person filling this office will enjoy it as much as I have - they have great people to work with here," Diamond said.
