Belmont offers hot glass, cold beer

The Civic Band performs May 24 at Evenings in Olde Seville.
The Belmont Arts Center will hold its next "Hot Glass, Cold Beer" open house fundraiser Friday, May 18 from 5-9 p.m. at the Belmont, 401 North Reus St., and feature glass blowing demonstrations glass bead demonstrations, jewelry making with FSG, complimentary beverages and snacks, artwork in the gallery, hand blown cups, and more.

Patrons who donate $20 towards the Belmont Arts Center's glass blowing programs and studio will receive a hand blown glass to keep. All ages are invited to attend, however patrons must be 21 years of age with valid photo ID for consumption of adult beverages. Please drink responsibly.

In addition, the evening will also feature a kiln opening with ceramic instructor Marty North and your last chance to get your tickets to win Belmont's "Art in Motion" car!

'God with us' will be performed Beachside and at First Baptist

"Not Quite Fab," a Beatles Tribute Band, takes stage Tuesday at Bands on the Beach.
This program will be presented by the First Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra; and the youth ensemble, Surrender. The music for "Alleluias" this year will be the worship musical, "God with Us." It involves a central worship leader/narrator, multiple soloists, and two personal testimonies. It's a wonderfully inspirational program, and one which will excite your faith in God.

There are two performances of "Alleluias." Saturday, May 19, will be at the beach, and Sunday, May 20, will be in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church, Pensacola. Both nights are at 6 p.m.

The beach concert will be at the Pensacola Beach Pavilion stage, and while there are benches provided, residents are certainly welcome to bring their own lawn chairs. The Sunday night program incorporates several banners, proclaiming the various names of Jesus, in a wonderful song called "No Other Name."

US Marines and Beatles tribute at Pensacola Beach

Get ready for a British invasion as "Not Quite Fab" grabs the stage at Bands on the Beach from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22. The popular Beatles tribute band will transport you back in time, when the fabulous four from Destin perform all the great songs of the most successful band of all times. If you love the Beatles, you've got to hear Not Quiet Fab.

Arrive early for this concert as the Marine Corps kicks off the evening at 6 p.m. with a special tribute to their forces. Col. Christopher "Caveman" Holzworth, commanding officer of Marine Corp Aviation Training Support Group-21 will be the leading voice paying tribute to the Marines from the Pensacola area that were killed in action, as well as recognizing Marines that have served in past wars and current combat veteran instructors assigned to MATSG- 21. As a special thanks to the Pensacola community for supporting their training, Col Holzworth will unveil "The Marine Pelican."

Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to the pavilion area. No pets are allowed and glass is prohibited. Concerts are provided and organized by the Santa Rosa Island Authority.

Exploreum extends hours for Pompeii

The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center is extending the hours of the international blockbuster exhibition, A Day in Pompeii, due to increased demand. The Exploreum will remain open until 6 p.m., one hour later than the current schedule. The extra hour will be in effect every day of the week except Sunday when the Exploreum will close at 5 p.m. With less than a month left in the exhibition, there has been an increase in visitors as the exhibit gets ready to close on June 3.

The Pensacola Civic Band will pay tribute to our armed forces at the Evenings in Olde Seville Square concert on Thursday from 7- 9:15 p.m., May 24 in historic Seville Square in downtown Pensacola. Opening the evening is Baldwin Pops with a mix of jazz, marches and traditional band music.

Concerts are free to the public. Angels on the Beach Getaway in full swing

Tickets are now available for the Angels on the Beach Getaway. The winner will enjoy a three-night stay in a gulf-front room at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front on Blue Angel Weekend, July 19, 20 and 21. A meal package for the weekend is also included.

Tickets are available at Independence for the Blind of West Florida (IB West). The drawing will be held June 29. No purchase is necessary to win, however a donation of $5 for two tickets will benefit IB West, a private nonprofit agency dedicated to helping the blind and visually impaired achieve maximum independence.
