GBHS seniors given awards, scholarships

The Gulf Breeze High's Class of 2007 held its awards night April 24.

Senior class enrollment is 344. More than 50 percent of those seniors received one or more scholarships recognizing their outstanding achievements during high school.

The scholarships and awards received by the class totalled more than $5 million.

The following seniors were honored for the following:

Awards and Scholarships

Leah Allen - Math Dept. Plaque & Cert., Interstate Fair Scholarship $1,000. Leah has been awarded a scholarship from Wake Forest totaling $71,000, a Emory University Liberal Arts Scholarship Totaling $48,000, and a Duke University Scholarship totaling $46,000. Leah plans to attend Wake Forest.

Samantha Ames - Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship $500. Samantha has been awarded a Springhill Leadership Scholarship totaling $30,000, a Pierce Leadership Award totaling $4,000, A Methodist Award totaling $4,000 and a Wesleyan Merit Scholarship totaling $12,000. Samantha plans to attend PJC.

Doug Baldwin - Nelson Rolstch Scholarship $500. Doug has been awarded Scholarship from Stanford University Totaling $192,000. Doug plans to attend Stanford University.

Kyle Barron - UWF Presidential Scholarship $6,000. Kyle plans to attend UWF.

Samantha Batting - Samantha has been awarded a Presidential Scholarship from the University of Tampa totaling $32,000. Samantha plans to attend the University of Tampa.

Katie Beaugrand - Art Medal and Scholarship $50, J. E. Frenkel Sr. Scholarship $1,000. Katie has been awarded a Santa Rosa Art Association scholarship Totaling $950 and a UWF Art Scholarship totaling $4,000. Katie plans to attend UWF.

Liz Bohannon - Key Club Medal. Liz plans to attend FSU.

Danica Bowman - Rotary Scholarship $5,000, PJC AA Degree with at least at 3.5, Optimist Scholarship $2,500). Danica has been awarded a Scholarship from FSU totaling $9,600. Danica plans to attend FSU.

Debbie Bremer - Art Medal & Scholarship $50. Debbie has been awarded a UWF Achievement Scholarship Totaling $4,000. Debbie plans to attend UWF.

Joe Bynum - UWF Presidential Scholarship $6,000. Joe plans to attend UWF.

Brittany Carmichael - Lit Magazine Plaque. Brittany plans to attend the University Of Tampa.

Kelly Clay - SGA Plaque, FBLA Scholarship $100. Kelly plans to attend Florida Gulf Coast University.

Molly Coady - Key Club Medal. Molly has been awarded a Compass Bank Scholarship totaling $4,000 and a Homer Fund Scholarship Totaling $4,000. Molly plans to attend the University Of Florida.

Tom Cotton - DCT Scholarship $100. Tom plans to attend Auburn University.

Brandon Creager - Jenni Lawrence Scholarship $500. Brandon plans to attend UWF.

Meghan Crockett - PJC Principal's Scholarship $1500, Art Medal and Scholarship $50. Meghan has been awarded a Santa Rosa Art Association Scholarship Totaling $950. Meghan plans to attend PJC.

Mary Crooke - Mary has been awarded a UWF Presidential Scholarship totaling $6,000 and a Gulf Coast Scholars Award totaling $64,000. Mary plans to attend Spring Hill College.

Emmalyn Daniel - Rotary Scholarship $5,000. Emmalyn has been awarded a Laura Calfee Higdon Scholarship Totaling $500.

Emmalyn plans to attend the University of Alabama.

Mary Deaver - Americanism Award $500. Mary has been awarded a Troy Band Scholarship totaling $4,000 and an Interact Scholarship totaling $400. Mary plans to attend the University Of Florida.

Will Dirschka - Will has been awarded scholarships From Georgia Tech totaling $53,600, University of California/Berkeley Totaling $42,116, Florida Tech Totaling $69,300, USF totaling $12,000, Penn State totaling $2,500 And University of Michigan totaling $50,428. Will is unsure of his plans at this time.

Daniel Dorman - ROTC Scholarship $500. Daniel plans to attend Colorado State University or UWF.

Amanda Ellis - Mary Jane Jones Scholarship & Cert. $250. Amanda has been awarded an academic Scholarship from UNF totaling $8,000. Amanda plans to attend UNF.

Abigail Felkner - Abigail has been awarded a Trustees Scholarship totaling $1050 and a National Buckeye Plus Scholarship Totaling $6,600. Abigail plans to attend Ohio State University.

Emily Felkner - Emily has been awarded scholarships From The Ohio State University totaling over $7,000. Emily plans to attend Ohio State University.

Stephanie Fockler - Chancellor's Scholarship $32,032. Stephanie plans to attend Troy University.

Cory Gibson - Cory has been awarded a Jacksonville University Soccer and Academic Scholarship totaling $42,000. Cory plans to attend Jacksonville University.

Eric Golden - Eric has been awarded a UWF John C Pace Honor Scholarship totaling $4,000. Eric is unsure of his plans at this time.

Amanda Gough - Amanda has been awarded a Troy Band Scholarship totaling $4,000. Amanda plans to attend FSU.

Natalie Gusack - Natalie has been awarded a Embry-Riddle Scholarship totaling $7,000. Natalie plans to attend Embry-Riddle.

Justin Harp - Optimist Club Scholarship $1,000. Justin plans to attend UWF.

Kyle Hebert - Americanism Award $500, National Merit Scholarship Dragontail. Kyle has been awarded a National Merit Scholarship totaling $1,000. Kyle plans to attend the University of Florida.

Ashley Hellums - PJC AA Degree with at least a 3.5. Ashley plans to attend PJC and the University of Florida.

Hayes Holland - Chancellor's Scholarship $32,032. Hayes plans to attend Troy University.

Kyle Hooks - Kyle has been awarded a UWF Presidential Scholarship totaling $6,000. Kyle is unsure of his plans at this time.

Sarah Kent - Sarah has been awarded a Director's Award totaling $40,000. Sarah plans to attend USF.

Seaira Kersch - Seaira has been awarded a FSU Academic Scholarship totaling $8,000. Seaira plans to attend FSU.

Pat King - USNA Prep School Appointment. Pat plans to attend a United States Naval Academy Prep School.

Ryan Knee - Ryan has been awarded a scholarship From Florida Institute of Technology Totaling $60,000. Ryan plans to attend Florida Institute Of Technology.

Alli Mead - Optimist Scholarship $2500. Alli has been awarded a Capstone Scholarship from the University of Alabama totaling $6,000 and a 21st Century FSU Scholarship totaling $8,000. Alli plans to attend the University of Florida.

Kelsey Meade - Kelsey has been awarded a FSU Academic Scholarship totaling $9,000. Kelsey plans to attend FSU.
