Pensacola Beach Elementary School students recognized for team, individual excellence

Robbie McLin, above center with his parents, was named Student of the Year at NB Cook School of the Arts, Cate Hodges was honored as the Shining Star of Pensacola Beach Elementary School, at right.
On Saturday, April 21, Pensacola Beach third, fourth, and fifth Graders participated in the Escambia County Sunshine Math Competition. Third Graders were Lia Lampone, Jace Amberson, Chad Harvey and Jacob Baldwin, led by teacher Joy McLaurine. The fourth grade team which won second place overall in the Team Competition were Sara Post, Jett Crowdis, Zane Gill and Will Green. The team of fifth graders which won first overall in the Team Competition were Sage Dunne, Mitchell Robbins, Bailey Trzcinski and Stephanie Moraes. The fourth and fifth grade math competitors were led by Margie Pitts.

Over 400 children from Escambia County participated. It was held at Tate High School. Parent Volunteers who help once a week with Sunshine Math are Leanne Lampone and Reed Dunne.

The fifth grade DARE Graduation will take place on Wednesday, April 25. Gulf Breeze Police Officer Kerstan Tatro has volunteering as DARE Officer for five years now, and has been nicknamed him Super "T."

In other areas, Cate Hodges was honored on Thursday April 19 at the WSRE studios where she was named the Shining Star of Pensacola Beach Elementary School. Robbie McLin was named Student of the Year on April 5 at NB Cook School of the Arts. Both Cate and Robbie were selected by the faculty of the Beach School for their excellent citizenship, positive attitude, being a peer role model and making terrific academic progress this year and over their careers at the Beach School.
The 4th Grade Team which won second place overall in the Team Competition were Sara Post, Jett Crowdis, Zane Gill and Will Green.
The 5th Grade Team which won first overall in the Team Competition were Sage Dunne, Mitchell Robbins, Bailey Trzcinski and Stephanie Moraes.
