Gulf Breeze third graders are top FCAT readers again Santa Rosa County third grade students scored higher than any other county's third graders in the state on reading scores on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Tests (FCAT). And Gulf Breeze Elementary School students scored the highest percentage for Santa Rosa County - which makes them the best readers in the state! From the 67 counties statewide, Santa Rosa County third graders also tied for second in math scores. From the Gulf Breeze Elementary third graders who took the test, 95 percent scored at the proficiency level or higher on the reading test. Last year they scored a 94 percent. Countywide, 86 percent of the 1,800 students who took the test scored passing or higher rankings. The state average was 69% of third graders reaching proficiency levels or better. In the math section of the FCAT, 87 percent of Santa Rosa County third graders scored passing or better, with the state average being 74 percent passing. Santa Rosa County held the same ranking in state standings on the third grade FCAT last year in both reading and math. |
