Spa technique safely 'melts' away fat

It's only a few more months until summer, and many locals are trying to lose a few extra pounds to fit nicely into your swimsuit. If you are nearly at your size, but have a few pesky problem areas that just won't go away, Still Waters Medical Spa's Lipodissolve injection therapy might be for you.

Lipodissolve, a micro-injection therapy using natural compounds is rapidly becoming popular for body contouring. And gift certificates for mom are available!

Lipodissolve is injected directly into the desired area and the main ingredient, phosphatidylcholine, causes the fat to gradually loosen, liquefy and then eliminate through the natural process. Lipodissolve was originally discovered in Italy in the early 1980's and modified and improved in Europe in 2002 as a treatment for localized fat reduction. The process involves about four treatments.

Mary Anne Aanestad, who owns Still Waters with her husband, Jeff, says that most clients see a ten percent improvement with the first injection and up to a forty percent improvement with the second. She also says that it is important to remember that although the treatment may change a persons measurements, this is not a weight reducing treatment. Results can range from less than 1.2 of an inch reduction to a 2-inch reduction in the injected area.

Jeff Aanestad is having the treatments, and reports soreness equal to that of having done a few sit ups. The procedure is best suited for those who are at or close to their desired weight and want to get rid of double chins, love handles, and other fat despots that don't respond well to diet or exercise. Temporary side-effects include redness, swelling, and occasional bruising. After a few days, these side-effects and slight discomfort disappear.

One of the great things about Lipodissolve is a relatively short or no downtime. Depending on the area treated, patients often return to normal activity immediately after treatment.

The treatment is not right for everybody. It's not appropriate for someone who is too heavy and needs to lose weight overall or for breast-feeding. The treatment is also inappropriate for people with conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, lung problems, or soy allergies. So if you just have a few pesky trouble spots keeping you from the bikini of your dreams, Lipodissolve may be right for you. the cost is $550.00 per treatment.

Dr.Jack Kotlarz is the medical director of Still Waters Medical Day Spa and he administers some of the treatments. Call them at (850) 432-6772 today!
