Field Day and Forest Stewardship Workshop May 16

The Florida Division of Forestry, University of Florida IFAS Research Facility and School of Forest Resources and Conservation, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have joined together to host the Natural Resource Conservation Field Day and Forest Stewardship Workshop on May 16 at the West Florida Research and Education Center in Jay.

Researchers from the University of Florida and professionals from the Division of Forestry will cover discussion and demonstration on tree identification, storm restoration, pre-commercial thinning and pruning, basic weed control, and the use of bio-fuels.

The Field Day will be a great experience for landowners, farmers, and homeowners to gain some valuable knowledge and expert insight on the necessary upkeep and preservation of their acreage. Also, there will be an opportunity to research some available government programs that aid in forest conservation and hurricane recovery.

There is a $20 registration fee (checks payable to WFREC) that will be collected at the door. Register on-line at http://wfrec.ufl.edu or mail in registration to: WFREC, 5988 Highway 90, Bldg. 4900, Milton, FL32583.

The tree talk will begin at 8:30 and should wrap-up around 3:30. Lunch will be provided. So come learn, experiment, and talk trees May 16 at the West Florida Research and Education Center on Hwy. 182 in Jay. Details: (850) 983-5216 ext. 113.
