Dog bites two, alligator captured in GB Spring fever is in the air and some animals are acting out as a result. One dog bit two people and an aggressive alligator was captured on the Gulf Breeze side of Pensacola Bay, far from freshwater. Gulf Breeze Police Officers were contacted Monday, April 23 about a large dog that allegedly bit two men. Shelly Sepulveda of 106 South Sunset said her husband, Gregory, 45, was bit by the unrestrained dog. "This dog came across the street and bit him in our yard while he was taking the trash out. You could see teeth marks but no blood," Mrs. Sepulveda said. She said her husband used the trash can to deflect the dog. Later, the dog bit an 83-yearold man who was taking his daily walk. "He was bit through the pants and it was bleeding," Mrs. Sepulveda said. The man's name was not released. Bruce Rova, Escambia County Animal Control officer, said the dog was a mixed breed, possibly a boxer or pit bull. "The dog was picked up by us. We talked to the owner and the dog was quarantined," Rova said. The owner was identified as David Greenfield at 103 South Sunset. In an unrelated incident, trapper Tiger Godwin was called to subdue a nine foot, four inch, 300 pound male alligator that was in the water behind the Bay Breeze condominium complex Saturday afternoon.. "It's mating season right now," said Godwin. "They all do a lot of traveling. Some bigger gator probably ran him out of his area in either East Bay or the Escambia River." Godwin said the alligator was extremely aggressive and had already gone blind in one eye because of the salt water. Godwin said alligators over four feet in length are often too large to be relocated. The trapper said the animal would be destroyed. |
