Gulf Breeze prepares for Relay for Life May 11-12 The Gulf Breeze Relay for Life is well on its way to being a success. Thirty-eight teams are registered, exceeding the goal of 37 teams, and $60,000 is collected toward the $115,000 goal. The rest of the money will be raised at pre-Relay events and through entertaining fundraisers at the event itself. This year's theme is "Cancer Never Sleeps," and Relay attendees will find out first hand about the "never sleeping" part as they participate in the 18- hour long event Friday, May 11 through Saturday, May 12 at Gulf Breeze High School Stadium. Cancer survivors are invited to participate in a Survivor's Walk at 6 p.m. Friday, and be treated to reception and dinner courtesy of Carrabba's restaurant. Track marker signs are available through May 8. At $125 each, they are a great way for businesses to show support for the fight against cancer. Relay is a free event, and the public is invited to come, walk the lap and eat, play and socialize with other attendees. A couple of pre-Relay fundraisers are scheduled: Poker Run, Saturday, May 5 beginning and ending at Shane's Rib Shack in Tiger Point area. First bike is out at 9:30. $15 donation per bike.
