Four GBHS boys, two girls state bound in track

      The quartet of Will Thomas, Sean Seales, Tommy Gibble and Kurt Mason qualified for Saturday's state meet in Winter Park, setting a new school record in the process. The four ran the 4x800 meter relay in 8:20.68 at Thursday's Region 1-2A meet in Jacksonville, good for third place.

      For the third time this season, the Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin softball team was the first to score against West Florida Tech. And for the third time, West Florida Tech ended the scoring, and with it, the Lady Dolphins' season, 6-5 in the quarterfinals of the District 1-3A Tournament April 17.

Hebert eighth at state

      G u l f B r e e z e H i g h s e n i o r C o r e y H e b e r t finished eighth in h i s w e i g h t class at Saturday's s t a t e weightlifting meet at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. Hebert lifted 170 pounds in the bench press and 175 pounds in the clean and jerk for a total of 345.

Gilmartin wins school's lone district title

      The Gulf Breeze boys and girls tennis teams took second at last week's District 1-2A Tournament at the University of West Florida. Washington won both team titles. Ali Gilmartin was the lone district champion for GBHS in number three singles.

GBHS sophomore Moran qualifies for national gymnastics meet
      Kelsey Moran, 16, has qualified for United States Gymnastics Association's Level 9 National Meet. It is believed Kelsey is only the fourth qualifier in the greater Pensacola area in the last 10 years. The National Meet will be held in Orlando the weekend of May 11-13.

      Will Sharenski, Drew Shay and Hayden Essary all scored four times as the Cubs defeated the Red Sox 19-9 in recent Tiger Point T-Ball action. Chase McDonald and Stewart Harrigill both scored twice for the Cubs, while Konner Flynn, Geddy Moore and Logan Turner all scored twice for the Red Sox.
