Optimists have a rootin'-tootin' good time for a great cause

Flounder's Ale House was thick with cowboy hats and bandanas last Thursday as the Pensacola Beach Optimists hosted their "Giddy Up Gala" to benefit Pensacola Beach Elementary.

Cowgirls and cowpokes got their fill of barbecue then settled in for an evening of entertainment by Tim Spencer and to find out whether their number would be lucky in the raffle where every tenth ticket wins cash. Rep. Dave Murzin was the lucky ticket holder who won $2,500.

Pensacola Beach Optimist Mary Claus said over $5,200 was raised at the event.
