Accomplished artist donates works to St. Francis event
Carol Holland-Doyle
Carol Holland-Doyle is a Pensacola/Gulf Breeze native who did not began painting and mixed media art until she was 30 years old. She is a Registered Nurse who graduated from Pensacola Junior College in one of its early classes. She has gained most of her experience in Family Practice but worked in Ear, Nose and Throat, Dermatology and Neurology as well.
Carol currently works at the Howard Clinic in Gulf Breeze and much of her art is displayed through out the facility. She is affiliated with Pensacola Artists, Inc., Gulf Breeze Artists, Inc. and The Arts Council of North West Florida. You will find her art exhibited at Quayside Art Gallery and in private collections throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Her most famous art collector is Metropolitan Opera singer, Beverly Sills.
Carol has won many awards for her art exhibitions. She says, "I try to recapture the thoughts, pleasure and memories of another time, another place and another world. The interpretation is to give a visual interpretation of fleeting moments of joy, fun and beauty."

Carol donated two of her creations to the St Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church for their Mid Summer Night Party Silent auction on June 9. She has had more than 18 exhibits and has won more than 25 awards from Honorable Mention to First Place to Best of show.
Optimist Club
The Optimist Club of Gulf Breeze is continually working for the youth of the community. They recently held an Essay Contest for high school students and are busily planning the Annual Gulf Breeze Optimists Club Fishing Rodeo.
The Club will present medals to the winners of the Optimists Club Essay Contest on Friday May 4th. The three judges who chose the winners and the parents of the winners will attend the Optimists Club ceremony. There were 72 entries and the winners are: Kara Brown, First Place; Chloe Diehl, Second Place; Zoe Miller, Third Place. All of these young people are Gulf Breeze High School students. Essay Committee members, Faye Cibula, Sue Benvenuti, Marion Ginn and Kama Mitchell, worked very hard to make this event a reality and Doris Naile spent hours counting words of the essays.
The 32nd Annual Gulf Breeze Optimists Club Fishing Rodeo will be held May 19-20 at Shoreline Park, South in Gulf Breeze. Grand Prize this year is a cash award of $1,000 plus many other prizes. Tickets are $20, available at Gulf Breeze Bait and Tackle, Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier or call 932- 2734. The Optimists Club will distribute tickets to "Big Brothers Big Sisters" and all proceeds go to benefit the youth of our community. Optimists suggest, "If you don't fish, buy a ticket for a kid who can't afford it." Tom Naile, Optimists Club Treasurer, is Chairman of this event. Women's Board of Baptist Health Care Foundation Silver Sale
The Women's Board of Baptist Health Care Foundation will have their "Silver Sale" April 30 and May 1 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Room in Baptist Hospital and on May 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Azalea Room and Baptist Medical Park on Nine Mile road.
A variety of hand crafted sterling silver jewelry will be available with free engraving done on site. All items sold to support The Women's Board and its programs. Cash, checks and all major credit cards will be accepted.

The Women's Board of Baptist Health Care Foundation raises funds for community health programs, indigent care and new medical technology. Since its establishment in 1975 the Women's Board has raised more than $1.2 million for health care programs.
The GFWC Santa Rosa Woman's Club
The GFWC Santa Rosa Woman's Club met Tuesday, April 3rd. The annual Salad and Sales of Vintage Items meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Collect for Club Women. The group welcomed four guests: Irene Foster, Betsye Haddock, Jo Ann Price and Brenda Sadler.
Two major accomplishments of this meeting were to elect Officers for the Club year 2007-2008 and the decision to make a sizable donation to the Good Samaritan Clinic. The officers are: President, Marion Ginn; President-Elect, Barbara Gonshor; First Vice Presidents, Linda White-Spunner and Linda Dawson; Second Vice- President; Jane Parker; Recording Secretary, Pat Tunison; Corresponding Secretary, Mary Eder; and Treasurer, Anna Campbell. They will be installed at the May 1st meeting.
On April 10th Shirley Gaddis, President of SRWC accompanied by members, Marian Ginn, Barbara Gonshor, Sally Stanford, Carolyn Pfeiffer, Alice Louise Crawley, and Marie Boykin, toured the Good Samaritan Clinic. Before the tour Gaddis presented a check for $3,000 to Fred and Shirley Cornett for the Good Samaritan Clinic. Fred is the Administrator of the Clinic, and Shirley is Executive Director for Interfaith Ministries.
