Learn to repair your automobile @ the library

Are you a do-it-yourself car repairer or professional mechanic? Have you lost the owner's manual to your vehicle? If so, you should take advantage of the Auto Repair Reference Center (AARC), an online resource provided by the Santa Rosa County Library System. You can access this resource in the library or with your library card from any internet accessible computer.

AARC contains the complete automotive repair manuals that were originally published in the Chilton Total Car Care Series. It contains information on approximately 28,350 vehicles from most major manufacturers of domestic and imported vehicles, with repair information for most vintage makes starting as far back as 1945. All of the content in Auto Repair Reference Center has been created by ASE certified technicians.

Content for specific vehicles organized by year, make, and model includes

* Over 191,000 drawings and step-by-step photographs

* Approximately 72,000 technical service bulletins & recalls issued by the original equipment vehicle manufacturer

* Over 114,000 enhanced wiring diagrams for easy viewing and printing

* Specifications & maintenance schedules

* Labor Time Guide & Estimator

Another feature called AutoIQ is an interactive learning aid featuring detailed content, full-motion video and animated technical diagrams. AutoIQ can demonstrate the purpose, functionality and service requirements of any vehicle system. Also, Care and Repair Tips will provide you with tips on fixing your vehicle and buying the proper tools and parts.

To access AARC, visit the Santa Rosa County Library System website at http://www.santarosa.fl.gov/libr aries. Next, click on "Research E-Sources" under quick links on the left. Then choose the option to search one resource at a time, and finally choose "Auto Repair Reference Center," listed in alphabetical order. The Santa Rosa County Library System is a department of the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners. Libraries are located in Gulf Breeze, Jay, Milton, and Navarre, and Pace.
