Dolphins go 2-2 at Bay Tourney

The Gulf Breeze Dolphin baseball team lost a pair of close games before rolling to a pair of wins during the Panama City Bay Invitational last week.
Bay 4, Dolphins 3
The Tornadoes scored the game-winner with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning April 2.
Brandon Scott, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, hit a solo homer in the top of the first. But Bay would answer with three in the bottom of the first off a double and three two-out errors.
McGuire, who went 2-for-4 and scored twice, led off the third inning with a single and scored on a single by Scott. Kameron Brunty, who went 2-for-4, singled in the fifth inning to score McGuire. The rest of the team was a combined 2-for-18 as the Dolphins left nine runners on base.
Michael Thomas threw 112 pitches in six inning, striking out three, while getting a no decision.
Arnold 7, Dolphins 3
The Marlins broke a 2-2 tie with a fourrun fifth inning as the Dolphins left the bases loaded twice in a loss to Arnold April 3.
McGuire singled in the bottom of the first and scored on a single by Brunty.
Brunty, who went 2-for-4, reached on an error and scored on a groundout by Boomer Harrington. The Marlins tied it in the top of the fourth before taking the lead for good in the fifth.
Scott, who went 3-for-4, singled in the fifth and scored on a single by Harrington.
The top three batters in the lineup went 7- for-12, while the bottom two-thirds of the lineup went 2-for-17.
Dolphins 17, Coral Gables 7
(six innings)
Gulf Breeze trailed by four after two innings against the Miami-area based 6A school before the Dolphins scored nine in the third and five in the fourth to blow out Coral Gables Wednesday.
Harrington, who drove in three runs, drove in his first run in the first inning when his groundout scored McGuire, who was hit by a pitch. Apair of home runs in the bottom of the first gave Coral Gables a 4-1 lead.
Tom Cotton, who went 3-for-4 and scored three times, singled with two outs in the second and scored on a single by Shane Dorlag, who went 4-for-4 and scored twice.
Cotton and Dorlag, the Dolphins' number eight and nine batters, were a combined 7- for-8 in the win.
The Dolphins sent 14 batters to the plate in the third inning. Tyler Gross drove in two runs with a single, while Kolton Hanke hit an RBI groundout.
Cotton and Dorlag both hit RBI singles, while McGuire and Brunty hit RBI doubles. Harrington added a sacrifice fly.
McGuire hit a two-run homer in Gulf Breeze's five run fourth inning. McGuire went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored.
Cotton doubled and scored on a passed ball before the McGuire blast. Harrington added an RBI single in the inning, while T.J. Jordan added a sacrifice fly.
Brunty, who went 3-for-3 and scored three times, hit one of his two doubles in the sixth inning and scored on a single by Gross.
Mark Waghalter struck out three and allowed eight hits, going the distance on the mound for the Dolphins.
Dolphins 16,
North Springs (Ga.) 6 (five innings)
Gross homered twice in a seven-run third inning as Gulf Breeze rolled over North Springs.
North Springs took a 2-0 lead in the first inning off a single, triple and a fielding error. But the Dolphins answered with three in the bottom of the first.
McGuire, who went 3-for-3 and scored four times, singled and scored on a single by Gross, who also had three hits, with four RBIs.
Scott singled and scored one of his three runs on a passed ball, while Harrington was hit by a pitch and scored on a balk.
North Springs reclaimed the lead with two in the top of the second off two leadoff walks. Dorlag singled and scored to tie it in the bottom of the second before Hanke walked and scored to give the Dolphins the lead for good. McGuire added an RBI double.
Gross opened and closed the scoring in the third inning with home runs. A solo shot started off the inning, while his tworun shot ended the inning.
