Gulf Isle Neighbors brighten Easter for hospice children
Gulf Isle Neighbors President Ellie Ackley and Craft Committee Chair Tish Strickland received the Hospice Heart Award for the Club from Covenant Hospice on Wednesday, March 28. Tish Strickland and her committee chose to make Easter baskets for the children affected by terminal illness either through illness themselves or loss of a loved one.
Tish and Ellie delivered Easter baskets to the Hospice and received the award from Hospice representative Megan Theriault. Megan is a Counselor for Children Support Services. Megan said "when these children are feeling grief through loss, separation or abandonment, the fact that some group took the time to do something especially for them makes a real difference." Tish said, "Sometimes I feel like Santa Claus."
Members of the Craft committee include Barbara Fleming, Edna Wright, Marianne Zimmerle, Joyce Lowery, Lynn Preece, Catherine Driscoll, Kathy Christoff, Mary Claus, Colleen Plaissance, Sally Muldoon, Phyllis Kulig, Lynda Krenning, Virginia Russo, Jackie Pergande, and Marianne Kelleher-Kaffee. Each year at Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's and Easter, the GIN Creative Craft Committee makes and delivers gifts to terminally ill people.

The next Gulf Isle Neighbors luncheon meeting is scheduled for April 11 at The Cabana Club on Pensacola Beach. Reservations can be made by calling Sally at 932-1422.
Santa Rosa Woman's Club
The Santa Rosa Woman's Club gave a tea for potential new members on Tuesday March 20 hosted by Barbara Oliver and Jane Parker at the Oliver home. Guests were Julie Bamburger, Polly Thompson, Marge Lay, Sue Simco and Jo- Ann Price.
Members gathered to meet and tell the guests about this hard working club.
LEADS Candidate
Mary Eder, a Gulf Breeze resident and a member of the Santa Rosa Wo m a n ' s Club, was chosen as a candidate for the General Federation of Wo m e n ' s Clubs (GFWC) LEADS program. The LEADS program is designed to identify members at the grassroots level who have the potential and the desire to assume leadership positions in GFWC beyond their club. It's a great honor to be nominated. Congratulations, Mary!!

Driftwood Garden Club
The Driftwood Garden Club met on Thursday March 22 at the New World Landing with Martha Herrington and Louise Finch as hostesses.
The program featured Emily Peterson who owns and operates The Garden Gate nursery. Emily's topic was "Attracting Butterflies to your Garden."
Some plants that will attract butterflies are the asters, beebalm, blazing star, blue mist flower, boltonia, black-eyed susans, butterfly weed, calico weed and many others.
Next month the program will be "Taking Pride in your Community." Santa Rosa Quilters' Guild
The Santa Rosa Quilters' Guild will meet on Thursday, April 12 at 9:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4901 Gulf Breeze Parkway. Baptist Health Care Foundation
The Women's Board of Baptist Health Care Foundation raised more than $30,000 during its fourth annual Denim & Rhinestones Ball held February 24 at New World Landing. Funds raised by The Women's Board are used to help create a healthier community through Baptist Health Care, the only locally owned and operated health care facility in the greater Pensacola area.

Gulf Breeze Celebrates the Arts
The Gulf Breeze Celebrates the Arts festival was held on March 24 and 25. Gulf Breeze Arts Inc. had its annual members' show inside the school's band room and Fran Sansing again showed her talents. Fran submitted two of her abstracts and won a first place ribbon for the beautiful beads displayed on the Asian figure.
Hoe 'n Hum Garden Club
Hoe 'n Hum Garden Club learn about herbs from guest speaker Len Schellhorn. President Ellen Webb introduced Schellhorn who showed several common culinary herbs and a few exotic herb plants. These herbs are used mainly to season, enrich, or improve the taste or smell of certain foods.
The Hoe 'n Hum Garden Club plans for April include a field trip to Garden Gate nursery. Following the tour, members will gather for "High Tea" at Tea Time in Gulf Breeze.
