Andrews Institute becomes provider of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF) and the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine have signed a new agreement for ambulatory surgical services.

"We are gratified that the Andrews Institute is joining our network of providers," said Dr. Barry Schwartz, vice president of Network Management for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida.

"Knowing the importance of Blue Cross to our employers, residents and physicians in our community, we are pleased to offer our premier surgical services to Blue Cross subscribers," said Dr. Greg Hickman, medical director for the Andrews Institute Ambulatory Surgery Center.

The Andrews Institute Ambulatory Surgery Center houses eight state-of-the-art operating rooms and more than 30 recovery beds. There are more than 40 doctors at the Institute that provide consultations and surgery in the following medical specialties: ear, nose and throat; general surgery; neurosurgery; optometry; ophthalmology; orthopaedics and sports medicine; pain management; physical medicine; plastic surgery; primary care sports medicine; retinal care; and vascular care.

In addition to the ambulatory surgery center, the Institute is home to a number of clinical departments, providing convenience and improved continuum of care for patients. Services at the Institute include diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation, physician consultations, and outpatient surgery. In addition, the complex is home to Athletes' Performance Florida and the Andrews Research for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine provides world-class care and service for the athlete in everyone. The one-of-a-kind center focuses on the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries while using the expertise of nationally and internationally renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. James R. Andrews.
