WBMS forming Hospitality Committee WBMS Our School Advisory Council (SAC) is looking for parents/guardians interested in forming a "Hospitality Committee". The committee will provide appreciation and support to the faculty, employees and students of WBMS. Gulf Breeze Middle School Advisory Council seeks applicants The Gulf Breeze Middle School Advisory Council is seeking applicants to serve on SAC for the coming school year. SAC members serve in an advisory capacity to the school principal and assist in development of the educational program and preparation and evaluation of the school improvement plan. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of most months at 7:15 a.m. at the school. Two parent slots are available. These are two year terms, and the voting for these positions will be held at the final PTO meeting of the year May 8 as well as in the school office during the week of May 7-11. One business/community position is also open. These members are elected from the applicants by the sitting School Advisory Council. Three teacher vacancies will be elected by the school staff. Better Business Bureau Scholarships available The Better Business Bureau Foundation of Northwest Florida is currently accepting applications from students in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton county high schools for its 2007 BBB Student Ethics Scholarship Program. The program will offer six $1,000 scholarships to current high school juniors or seniors who plan to attend an accredited college in the United States or Canada. "This scholarship is designed to reward students who personify ethics and personal integrity," said Norman Wright, president and CEO of the BBB. "Today's students are the leaders of tomorrow, and the ethical standards and integrity being forged today will guide them as they transition into the professional world." Local leaders from business and academia will serve as judges and award the scholarships based on criteria including leadership, community service, academic achievement and an essay response on building character. Award recipients will be notified in September and awards will be presented in conjunction with the BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics luncheons this October. To apply for the scholarship students should contact their principal or guidance counselor, or download an application at www.nwfl.bbb.org. Entries must be postmarked by April 25, 2007. (CST), Monday- Friday. GBHS PTSO soliciting Project Graduation funds Gulf Breeze High School PTSO is kicking off its fundraising for Project Graduation 2007. What is Project Graduation? It is a substance-free event for our graduating seniors the night of graduation. Its goal is to prevent deaths and injuries associated with drinking, drug use and driving after the graduation ceremony. Graduates are treated to a night of entertainment, games, refreshments and door prizes. The exact location and specific details are not made public for safety reasons. Transportation is provided to and from the event departing from the high school parking lot following the commencement ceremony. For the past 18 years, the Gulf Breeze Community has always been extraordinary in their support of this event. We are again asking for the community's support. GBHS Class of 1977 reunion coming up The 1977 Class of Gulf Breeze High School is planning its 30th class reunion for June 29-July 1 on Pensacola Beach. Detailed information about the reunion, as well as a listing of the missing classmates, is posted on the class website: www.gbhs77.org For details, email: reunion@gbhs77.org UWF music department summer camp in July The University of West Florida Department of Music, in partnership with the Pensacola Opera, will offer a summer music camp for high school students, ages 14 to 18, July 22 through 27 on the UWF Main Campus. The base registration fee is $200 per person, with additional fees for housing, meal plans and private lessons. The application deadline is June 29. Merit-based scholarships for $50 and $100 are available. For scholarship consideration, applications must be received no later than June 1.
