Alys Kline's life touched many others

She was a very quiet, unassuming woman, saying little, but undoubtedly listening to the conversations of others. She was always courteous, answering directly and succinctly questions directed to her, but she was never one to disclose much about herself.

It was only after she died that many of the facts of her life were revealed. Facts such as she was a graduate from Columbia University with a B.S. degree in Nursing, and an M.A. degree in Nursing Administration and Education; that she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Public Administration from Marion College; that she later became Vice President of Community Hospital, a hospital of 1,000 beds; that she was a Flight Nurse with the Army Air Corps 830th Medical Air Evacuation Squad, North Africa, Middle & Far East Operations, where she accompanied and cared for wounded soldiers being flown home in DC-54s so that further care could be provided.

Following retirement, she moved to Pensacola Beach and served as a volunteer at Fort Pickens; joined the Optimist Club and enjoyed the fellowship of the Crafty Ladies of the Pensacola Beach Community Church, where she meticulously helped to create crafts for the Crafty Ladies Holiday Sale.

Those who were acquainted with Alys Kline will miss this kind, quiet, unassuming woman who had been through many experiences, helped open doors for women in business, undoubtedly touched the lives of many people through her involvement in the healing profession, and beyond, and who now receives a recognition she never sought for in life.

She serves as a refreshing symbol of all those who have done their tasks, done them with distinction, and who now rest from their labors.

I'm honored and grateful for the privilege of having known Alys Kline.
