Waterfront concert to benefit charity The Pensacola Symphony Orchestra (PSO), on behalf of Camp Fire USA, will host the inaugural event, "Symphony at Sunset" on April 1, 2007 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Plaza De Luna. Symphony at Sunset features a series of firsts - it is the first event to be held at the new downtown park as well as the first waterfront concert for the PSO. Most importantly, Symphony at Sunset is the first chance for youth musicians to perform in concert with our world-renowned orchestra. "Given the challenges and threats facing children today, connecting caring adults and young people is more important then ever. The PSO supports the efforts of Camp Fire USA in this fundraising initiative to make sure the good work continues," says Edgar Herrera-Arizmendi, Executive Director for the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra. "Symphony at Sunset will enhance our children's lives for years to come."
An invitation is extended to youth musicians to play their instruments with the Symphony at the encore of the concert. Music directors and youth musicians are encouraged to sign up on the event's website www.symphonyatsunset.com Although the concert is FREE to the public, the PSO suggests a $20 donation, which will directly benefit the local chapter of Camp Fire USA. Play Hard Music and Sound (formerly known as Harris Music and Sound) is a proud sponsor of the event. "This is an awesome, once in a lifetime opportunity for these youth musicians," says Jake Wand owner of Play Hard. 'For some it will keep their passion for music inspired." Symphony at Sunset was created and produced by Birdwell Photography & Multimedia (BPM), located just steps away from Plaza de Luna at 890 S. Palafox, Suite 109. Camp Fire USA is a national, co-educational youth development agency serving boys and girls from kindergarten through high school. Since 1910, Camp Fire USA has been meeting the changing needs of children and youth. The Gulf Wind Council works locally with children and youth in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Baldwin Counties. For over 90 years, Camp Fire USA has been working with boys and girls to foster self-esteem, healthy lifestyles, character development, leadership skills and social responsibility. |
