Lady Dolphins win district clashes with Pine Forest, Washington
Powers throws no-hitter in win for JV team

The Lady Dolphin softball team shook off a rare loss to Catholic to post district wins over Washington and Pine Forest.
Catholic 5, Lady Dolphins 3
The Lady Crusaders took advantage of three GBHS errors to score three in the second, then another in the fourth to score two more as they won in Gulf Breeze March 6.
After leaving six runners on base in the first five innings, Gulf Breeze scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Kori Ewens, who had two of the team's four hits, hit a bloop single after Kara Brown drew a leadoff walk. Natalie Alverson singled to score Brown before Megan Stone grounded out to score Ewens. Claire Koontz then reached on an error to score Alverson.
Minus Ewens, the rest of the squad went a combined 2-for-20. Aubrey Curington's two out double in the fourth was Gulf Breeze's only other hit.
Lady Dolphins 13, Pine Forest 8
After committing four errors in the first inning, giving Pine Forest a 4-0 lead, the Lady Dolphins scored eight in the second to beat the Lady Eagles Thursday in Pensacola.
Natalie Newell, who went 2-for-4 and scored twice, singled in the second inning to score Rose Atkinson, who also had two hits in the win.
Deannette Zuniga, who went 2-for-4 and scored three times, hit a three-run triple to score Stone, Newell and Koontz, who all singled. Koontz went 2-for-4 and scored twice.
Alverson, who went 3-for-5 and scored once, drove in one of her three runs with a double that scored Erin Powell.
Brown, who went 2-for-5, then doubled with two outs to score Curington and Alverson. Curington singled and went 2-for- 5 for the game.
Alverson doubled with two outs in the third inning to score both Zuniga and Powell, who both singled.
Newell tripled in a three-run fourth inning and scored when Koontz reached on an error. She scored on another Pine Forest error before Zuniga walked and scored.
Brown struck out seven and walked only two in the win, allowing only five hits.
Lady Dolphins 14,Washington 4

Gulf Breeze blew open a close game with seven in the fifth and four in the fourth to beat the Lady Cats Friday in Gulf Breeze.
Stone, who went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored, singled with two outs to score Alverson, who reached on an error. Newell then doubled to deep center field to score Stone.
Zuniga, who went 2-for-5, singled in the third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Powell to make it 3-0.
Powell singled and scored a run, then drew a bases loaded walk in the fifth inning. Curington, Newell and Ewens all hit RBI singles in the inning, while Lyndsey Wright drove in a run on a bases loaded walk.
Wright scored twice for Gulf Breeze, who got eight hits (out of 10 official at bats) from their seven, eight and nine hitters.
Newell went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs.
Pace JV 10, Lady Dolphins 9
Gulf Breeze let a 9-0 lead slip away as Pace capitalized on eight Lady Dolphin errors to come from behind for a win March 6.
Viglione, Powers, Marsh and Diaz all had two hits in the loss, while Watson scored twice.
Lady Dolphin JV 11, Pine Forest 0 (five innings)
Powers threw a no-hitter and came within one walk of a perfect game as Gulf Breeze drilled Pine Forest Thursday.
Catherine Horn went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Powers went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Marsh, Anna Schundelmier and Mallory Mead all scored twice, while Sarah Munsch drove in two.
Lady Dolphin ninth
grade 15, Pace 15
In a game that featured 18 errors (11 of them by GBHS), Gulf Breeze scored five in the top of the fifth to salvage a tie in a time-limit game March 6 in Gulf Breeze.
Sam Diaz had four hits and drove in three, while Jessica Watson and Anndrea Marsh both had three hits.
Rachel Viglione and Michel Joffrion both had two hits, while Tristan Powers scored twice.
Lady Dolphin ninth grade 18, Navarre 4 (four innings)
Powers struck out six and allowed five hits in a win over Navarre Friday.
Powers also had two hits with four RBIs and three runs scored. Marsh had two hits, with three RBIs and three runs scored, while Viglione, Carli Steinhauer, Kelsey Hebert and Maggie Mitchell all scored twice.
