9:01 p.m. on ABC October Road: You may hear echoes of "Ed" in this new drama series about another successful man returning to his roots. In this case, it's author Nick Garrett (Bryan Greenberg), who hopes to cure his writer's block by moving back home. He's not exactly welcomed with open arms all around, though, as he used his old friends and neighbors as grist for his novel. And there's a little matter of the girl he left behind, who's raising a son who might be his. Friday 7 p.m. on ABC Grey's Anatomy: Who's the next chief? That question just got a little harder to answer, as another candidate for the job emerges. Elsewhere, Izzie and George's (Katherine Heigl, T.R. Knight) relationship suffers more tension, and Callie (Sara Ramirez) is forced to spill a secret. Derek (Patrick Dempsey) treats someone close to him. Shohreh Aghdashloo ("The Nativity Story") guest stars in "Scars and Souvenirs." 8 p.m. on FOX The Wedding Bells: Ever have one of those days? One-time "bridezilla" Amanda (Missi Pyle) did, and she blames the Bell sisters for her less-than-perfect wedding day. She threatens a hefty lawsuit. As if that weren't enough, runaway bride Dede (Pamela Adlon) is back and ready to wed, singer Ralph (Chris Williams) has laryngitis, and Sammy (Sarah Jones) is flirting with the young groom of a much-married 60-something in this new episode. Saturday 3:30 p.m. on ABCFAM Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: When so many of beloved books get butchered on the screen, it's hard to understand the critics who panned the first Potter flick for being too true to author J.K. Rowling's work. Staying true to the book is a good thing! And nobody's complaining about Daniel Radcliffe's excellent portrayal of the titular boy wizard, or the 2001 fantasy's fine supporting cast, which includes Maggie Smith, Richard Harris, Robbie Coltrane and John Hurt. 6 p.m. on LIFE Return to Me: A top-notch cast and a unique though improbable premise make this 2000 romance a cut above your standard tearjerker. Bonnie Hunt does more than her share of duty as co-star and co-writer, and David Duchovny makes a definite departure from his role on "The X-Files" as a widower attracted to a woman (Minnie Driver), unaware she is the recipient of his late wife's transplanted heart. The cast includes Carroll O'Connor in one of his last roles. Sunday 8 p.m. on CBS Cold Case: Prepare to be sobered by the new episode "A Dollar, a Dream," as Lilly (Kathryn Morris) and her team investigate the death of a woman whose body is found in a car at the bottom of a river. As they try to determine where the woman lived, the answer is right in front of them: Her family was living in the car. They must go back to 1999 to find out how the family came to be homeless. 9 p.m. on CBS Without a Trace: Teens need to be careful online, but it's not the Internet that gets a girl in trouble in the new episode "Connections." She disappears after leaving an Internet cafe, where another patron - a teenage boy - had just passed her an unsavory note. Maybe she should stick to the computer at home from now on. While investigating the case, Samantha (Poppy Montgomery) is the target of a connection effort by her estranged sister (Molly Price). Monday 7 p.m. on ABC Dancing With the Stars: Originally a summer success story for the alphabet net, the American version of the Brit hit "Strictly Come Dancing" returns for a fourth season to heat up the waning days of winter. Celebrities not known for their dancing abilities are paired with pros who teach them all the right moves for competing on the dance floor. This season's contestants include singer Billy Ray Cyrus, boxer Laila Ali and Heather Mills, the soon-to-be-ex-Mrs. Paul McCartney. Tuesday 8 p.m. on NBC Law & Order: Criminal Intent: You thought you had sibling rivalry in your family? When the successful son of a wealthy family is poisoned, Goren and Eames (Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe) initially suspect his ne'er-do-well brother (Paul Fitzgerald) ... until he dies, too. Documents he forged before his death have the detectives digging for family secrets. Eric Bogosian and Theresa Randle also star in "Bedfellows." Wednesday 8 p.m. on CBS Criminal Minds: Build on dirty ground, and your house may burn to the ground. That's the message someone is apparently trying to send with a series of arsons targeting upper-middle-class families. Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) and his colleagues link the victims to development companies that are accused of building on contaminated land. The arsonist may have ties to a radical environmental group whose favorite weapon is fire in the new episode "Ashes and Dust." |
