Gulf Breeze Hospital Auxiliary deals St. Patty's card party By Betty Archer Allen
They're at it again making money for the hospital!! Don't forget that the Gulf Breeze Hospital Auxiliary will celebrate St. Patrick's Day with their annual card party and luncheon on March 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church. Attendees can play the game of their choice, such as board games or card games.
Lunch will be catered by Norma's and will include homemade desserts and beverages. There will be many opportunities for door prizes as well as the "Pot of Gold."
Tickets are on sale at the Gulf Breeze Hospital Gift Shop as well as from Auxiliary members.
Proceeds from the party and all other fundraisers will be donated to the hospital for special equipment and other patient services. For details, call Faye Cibula at 932-5270.
Pensacola Beach Woman's Club
The Pensacola Beach Woman's Club meets today, March 15 at 11 a.m. on the third floor of the Elks Club, Pensacola Beach. he speaker is Chief George Dodge, a Native American activist. Dodge will talk about the difficulty that Mayan school children have without adequate school supplies in wartorn Guatemala. Chief George is requesting that the donations of pencils, erasers, and notebooks and preferably black and white composition books. The theme for the meeting will be St. Patrick's Day. Pensacola Bay Area IMPACT 100
IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area, a local women's philanthropy group, will hold its annual membership announcement meeting March 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at My Spayce at 212 East Garden Street. Impact 100 Pensacola Bay Area will announce its final 2007 membership number that closed on March 1st , the number of grant applications to be distributed in 2007 and the amount of each grant award. All 2007 members are invited to attend.
IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area was founded in 2004. With an annual membership of $1,000 per woman, Impact raised $233,000 in its first year, $250,000 in 2005, its second year, and $340,000 in 2006. Annual dues of $1,000 are pooled together. Grants are then awarded to non profits in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties, with a minimum grant of $100,000. There are five focus groups for philanthropy: arts & culture; education; environment, recreation & preservation; family; and health & wellness. Membership is open to all women. The city of Gulf Breeze and Gulf Breeze Arts
The city of Gulf Breeze and Gulf Breeze Arts, Inc. will Celebrate the Arts in their 13th annual Fine Arts Festival on Saturday March 24 and Sunday March 25 from 9-5 in the parking lot of Gulf Breeze High School on Highway 98.
The city of Gulf Breeze is calling for volunteers to help with this big event. Volunteers are needed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to check in the artists, help with parking and setting up and taking down, helping artists during the festival, etc. Anyone may contact Festival Director Sue Warner at 453- 5376 or buckisue@hotmail.com to acquire more information about the event and/or to lend a helping hand.
Gulf Breeze Toastmasters Club
The Gulf Breeze Toastmasters club is newly formed and it meets every Wednesday at noon at the First Baptist Church of Gulf Breeze, 555 Fairpoint drive in Gulf Breeze. The church donates a meeting room in the education facility for the club's use. The meetings start promptly at noon and will always finish by 1pm. Brown bagging is welcome but come at 11:45 a.m. if doing so. Any one interested in learning more about becoming a more effective speaker and listener is welcome.
Toastmasters are a proven way to improve individual communication skills. Toastmasters are a fun and supportive group and by participating one can become a better speaker and leader and gain confidence to succeed in whatever path chosen in life.

Pensacola Camellia Club
What do Pensacola Camellia Club members do on Mardi Gras night? They have a banquet and a mini-camellia show just for the attendees and announce their new officers for the year. That is just what they did. Approximately sixty members and guests attended a first-annual event.
Officers for the year were installed: Skip Vogelsang, President; Tom Birdwell, First Vice President; Bill Bennett, Second VP; Gordon Eade, Third VP; Thekla Morris, Treasurer; and Norman Vickers, Secretary. New board members installed were: Michael Dupuis, Gabriel Olsen, Ben Williamson, Steve Caton, Dick Hooton and Al Jeppesen.
Newly installed president Skip Vogelsang congratulated outgoing president Cinny O'Donnell on her successful year and noted that she was the first female president of the organization. He also congratulated her on her upcoming presidency of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs. Vogelsang's main goals for his year are to : 1. make the Pensacola Camellia Club's December Show the best on the Gulf Coast and 2. establish a camellia garden in the city which contains all the 100- plus camellias which have originated in Pensacola.
Guest of honor was Mary Ellen Edwards and her extended family. Her late husband, John K. Edwards had been a member of the club since its founding in 1937. John's recent death was mourned.
Dick Hooton was recognized as "Person of the Year" for his valuable contributions to the Club. He obtains the camellia plants from various nurseries over several states for sale at the December Camellia show and at the February Camellia Workshop.
Camellia show winners were: Skip Vogelsang for extra large variety, Jean Purcel ; Don Applegate for large variety Frank Houser, variegated; Carl Brady for medium size variety, Elaine's Betty Red; Mary Ellen Edwards, for small, Maroon & Gold; and Bill Bennett, for miniature, Man Size.
Music for the event was provided by classical and jazz guitarist Arturo. Guest musicians were violinist Woody Edwards of Dallas, nephew of John and Mary Ellen Edwards, and pianist/harmonicist Norman Vickers.
The Art of Fashion: Luncheon, fashion show, and charitable auction
Local artists Nina Fritz, Lisa Kirkman and Quenby Tilley, are contributing their talent to the 2nd Annual Art of Fashion event, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 29 at New World Landing. This creative luncheon features a Tadashi trunk show, a runway fashion show, live art auction, and a silent auction of hand painted dresses by local artists and celebrities.
The runway fashion show will feature casual, career and evening wear for both men and women and will also include children's wear. Local stores participating in the event include Don Alans, The Fashion Connection, Lee Tracy, Marisa Boutique and Randall's Formal Wear.
