Basketball programs hold banquet

A total of 11 teams were honored at Sunday's Dolphin basketball awards banquet at First Baptist Church.

All three boys and girls basketball teams and cheerleaders, along with JV and varsity dance teams, were honored and were treated to catered meal courtesy of Carrabba's.

First squad honored was Melissa Malone's junior varsity dance team. Lisa Aguado and Bridget Randall were named Dolphin Spirit award winners, Katie Martin, the Dolphin Dancer, Kelsey Bray the Most Improved and Lexi Sydow the Dolphin Leadership award winner.

Linda Brothers was next with her varsity dance team. Kourtney Clopton was the Dolphin Spirit award winner, Tara Swann, the Dolphin Dancer, Rachael Estess the Most Improved and Juliana Matthews and Courtney Trevino the Dolphin Leadership award winners.

Diana Hayden then introduced her ninth grade cheerleading squad. Rachel Viglione was the team's Academic Award winner.

Leslie Skinner was next with her junior varsity cheerleading squad. Megan Keene was the team's Academic Award winner.

Amy Akregren then introduced her ninth grade cheerleading squad. Christie Atchison was the team's Academic Award winner.

Melissa Payne was next with her ninth grade girls basketball squad. Rachel Viglione was the team's Academic Award winner.

Patrick Keen then introduced his junior varsity girls basketball squad. Tram Tran was the team's Academic Award winner.

Jarrod Denmon was next with his varsity girls basketball squad. Jamie Beeler was the team's Academic Award winner, as well as the Most Valuable Player. Sarah Munsch was the Most Improved and Whitney Harris was the Heart and Soul award winner.

David Wiley then introduced his ninth grade boys basketball squad. Nick Humphrey was the team's Academic Award winner.

Richard Hollensworth was next with his junior varsity boys basketball squad. Andrew Quadrini was the team's Academic Award winner.

David McGreal closed out the evening by introducing his varsity boys basketball squad. Matt Patrick was the team's Academic Award winner, as well as the Most Valuable Player. Blake Rankin and Brandon Creager were the team's Coaches Award winners, while Stuart Franklin was the Most Improved.
