Dolphin track takes second at season opening meet

The Gulf Breeze boys track team took second place in a three-team season opening meet Feb. 27 at Catholic.

The Dolphins finished with 53 points. Woodham won with 91 points, while Catholic had 33 points.

The quartet of Tommy Gibble, Kurt Mason, Will Thomas and Sean Seales won the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:32. Geoffrey Brill won the mile (5:02), while Gibble took first in the 800 (2:11).

Zach Permenter won the pole vault (9-6) and was third in the shot put (36-7).

The rest of the Dolphins and where they placed:

Triple jump - 3) Stuart Wiliams (32-10.5).

Shot put - 4) Jacob Burks (35-11).

Discus - 4) Brandon Van Camp (105-11.5).

Pole vault - 3) Tyler Johnson (7-6), 4) Matt Dannheisser (7-0).

100 meter hurdles - 2) Alex Dorst (17.96), 3) David Sever (19.1), 4) Williams (19.13).

1600 meter run (mile) - 2) Chris Hollman (5:03), 3) Seales (5:04).

300 meter hurdles - 2) Williams (45.5), 4) Alex Duntz (48.8).

800 meter run - 2) Thomas (2:13), 3) Alec Cann (2:20), 4) Mason (2:22).

3200 meter run (two mile) - 3) Hollman (11:46), 4) Chad Robin (11:56).

The girls team finished with 20.5 points. Woodham won with 123.5 points, while Catholic scored 22 points.

The quartet of Emmalyn Daniel, Emily Tryon, Chelsea Welsh and Maggie Rodgers won the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:32.

Daniel, Megan Eastburn, Colleen Eastburn and Lauren Musick took second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:56.

Triple jump - 4) Musick (27-2).

Shot put - 3) Tobie Bass (30- 10), 4) Ann Marie Chilton (27-9.5).

Discus - 4) Bass (83-7). Pole vault - 3) C. Eastburn (6-0).

High jump - 2) Jenny Holder (4-7).

Several Gulf Breeze athletes completed in the Justin Gatlin Invitational Feb. 27.

Bass' second place finish in the shot put (34-5) and Gibble's second place finish in the 800 meters (2:09).

Girls Pole vault - 4) Bri Pate 4th (7-0).

4x800 meter relay - 3) Tommy Gibble, Kurt Mason, Chad Robin, Sean Seales (8:54).

1600 meter run - 5) Sean Seals (4:53), 8) Geoffrey Brill (4:57).
