BY JASON THOMPSON Gulf Breeze News jason@gulfbreezenews.com

Great teams always seem to find a way to win games. Unfortunately, the Lady Dolphins learned that lesson the hard way Friday.

Escambia took advantage of a GBHS ball that could've been caught, another that should've been caught, a throwing error and a two-out single in the seventh inning to beat Gulf Breeze 3-2 Friday in Gulf Breeze.

The Lady Dolphins (3-4) led 2-0 with single runs in the first and fourth innings.

Erin Powell, who went 2-for-3 and scored twice, singled with two outs in the first and scored on a double by Aubrey Curington.

Powell doubled to lead off the fourth inning and scored on a bunt single by Megan Stone. Minus Powell, the Lady Dolphins were a combined 2-for-20 at the plate.

Kara Brown struck out four and allowed only two hits in three innings in relief of Cori Linville, who allowed only three hits in four shutout innings.
