Sports Briefs The Pensacola Yacht Club will hold an Open House Saturday from 3-5 p.m. Interested persons can find out about their summer sailing and boating programs. PYC Junior Sailing Director Josh Klein will also be on hand to answer questions about the program. There will also be games for the kids. For more information, call Klein at 232-2701. Big Break Golf Classic March 12 The third annual Big Break Golf Classic is March 12 at the new Pensacola Country Club course designed by PGA tour legend Jerry Pate The tournament includes lunch, complimentary cart, tips on technique from a pro, awards, prizes and the chance to win tickets to the Masters Tournament. Greg Woodfin is heading up this year's event. All proceeds from the $175 registration fee go to PJC's Universal Scholarship Fund. The fund was established to provide tuition assistance and books to residents of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties who cannot afford to attend PJC. All students who meet minimum criteria, regardless of area of study, grade point average or financial need may apply for these funds. Spring Fly Fishing Clinic March 17 in Pensacola The Fly Fishers of Northwest Florida will conduct a Spring Fly Fishing Clinic Saturday, March 17 from 9 a..m.-noon at Miraflores Park at 17th Avenue and Belmont in Pensacola. The clinic is free of charge. Anglers can learn about fly tying and casting instruction, as well as learn about saltwater fly fishing from local fly fishing guides and club members Check out a good selection of Temple Fork Fly Rods and enter for a chance to win a Temple Fork rod and other door prizes Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. For additional information, call 516-1852. |
