Lloyd Joseph Mattair, Sr. Lloyd Joseph Mattair, Sr., a lifelong resident of Pensacola and Pensacola Beach died Saturday, March 3, 2007. Lloyd was a 1942 graduate of Pensacola High School, served as an aerial gunner instructor during World War II in the U.S. Navy from 1942- 1946, and he retired as a General Foreman from NARFE, Federal Civil Service at NAS in 1982. He was cited for Value Engineering projects he initiated which resulted in cost savings of over one million dollars. After retirement, he enjoyed building and remodeling houses, fishing and traveling. He was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church and The Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge #497. He served on the City of Pensacola Zoning Board from 1980-1983. He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd B. Mattair and Janet Matroni Mattair, a sister Marie Mattair and infant twin daughters. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Constance Rosique Mattair, three sons, one daughter and one sister: Lloyd J. Mattair, Jr., his wife Mary, their children, Amanda and Lloyd J. III, of Gulf I Breeze; daughter Elaine Mattair, her children Matthew Nissley and Elizabeth Nissley, of Reston, Virginia; Kenneth S. Mattair, his wife Sharon, their children Brandon and Chad of Navarre, Florida; Wayne E. Mattair, his wife Olga, her son Jonathan Sarmiento, of Gulf Breeze, Florida and his sister Mildred Suggs, of Pensacola, Florida. A Memorial Mass was held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze Tuesday, March 6, 2007, with Msgr. Luke Hunt, celebrant. Interment is at St. Michael's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Covenant Hospice. H A R P E R - M O R R I S MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements. |
