Gutierrez joins West Florida Planning Council

Mary Gutierrez has joined the West Florida Regional Planning Council (WFRPC) as the Bay Area Resource Council (BARC) regional planner. Prior to joining the WFPRC, Gutierrez worked for the Department of Environmental Protection and was an environmental chemist for Severn Trent Laboratories.

In her new position, Gutierrez will enhance environmental education throughout the region, specifically in Bay, Holmes, Okaloosa, Walton and Washington counties, while maintaining existing programs in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

Gutierrez holds a bachelor's of science in environmental science and a master's degree in public administration from the University of West Florida. She is currently enrolled in the EPI program at Pensacola Junior College. In addition, Gutierrez serves on the Escambia Marine Extension Advisory Council and is vice chair of BARC's Environmental Education Coordination Team.
