Was it a coincidence? Or God's divine plan?

Late Sunday evening as I was driving home from the hospital, I decided to call the patient's wife and report on his condition.

As she answered, she said, "Oh, I was just looking up your number to call you." That is not an isolated case. Now, some people would call that coincidental, while others would say, "That's the way God works," and there would be others with different explanations, perhaps even ESP.

In the final analysis, I would say that however we may feel about the experience, doesn't make a bit of difference in the outcome. It happened. However, how we feel about it makes a difference to us. Those who see events as fate, the "luck of the draw," etc., may be religious, just as those who see God's presence in every event. The latter find comfort in feeling that there is a cosmic plan that feeds into our universe and that things are not just random acts, but a planned strategy. That leads us down the path of trying to determine just who is responsible for the evil that exists in our world.

Again, what we believe about the event doesn't change it, although it may change our response. Well, while driving down busy Route 98 or the streets of the city, this may be a good exercise to consider to keep our minds occupied.

But, whatever you believe, please be very careful.
