Lady Dolphins lose big at Navarre

The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin team won a pair of games last week before getting drilled 10-1 Friday at Navarre.

The Lady Dolphins (2-3) took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when Erin Powell singled and scored when Natalie Newell reached on an error.

But from there, it was all Navarre as the Lady Raiders scored five with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. Navarre added five more in the sixth.

Gulf Breeze finished the game with only five hits - a double by Aubrey Curington in the first inning and singles by Rosie Atkinson in the third and Megan Stone and Natalie Alverson in the seventh.

The top four batters in the lineup were a combined 1-for-10 with five strikeouts.

Lady Dolphins 8, Pine Forest 3

The Lady Eagles took a 1-0 first inning lead on a home run, but Gulf Breeze scored eight unanswered to win Feb. 20.

Deannette Zuniga walked in the bottom of the first and scored on a single by Atkinson.

Gulf Breeze tacked on three more in the second inning, two of them on a single by Lyndsey Wright. Newell and Powell singled before Zuniga's two out double scored Newell, setting the stage for Wright.

The Lady Dolphins added four more in the fourth inning, highlighted by run scoring singles by Claire Koontz and Zuniga.

Wright, who went 3-for-3, singled and scored in the inning. Powell went 2-for-3 and scored twice, while Zuniga also scored twice.

Kara Brown struck out six in the win.

Lady Dolphins 13,

Woodham 3

Cori Linville threw a five-hitter and struck out seven, while Brown hit a two-run, inside the park home run as Gulf Breeze won Feb. 19 at Woodham.

Woodham took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before Gulf Breeze scored seven in the top of the third.

Atkinson, who went 3-for-4, hit an RBI triple in the third inning, setting the stage for Brown. Wright added a run scoring bunt single in the inning. Wright went 3-for-5 and scored twice.

Koontz, who went 2-for-4, hit a two-run double in the Lady Dolphins' five run fifth inning. Zuniga and Wright also had run scoring singles in the inning.

Curington went 3-for-4 with a triple and scored twice for Gulf Breeze.

Lady Dolphin JV 10,

Navarre 7

Catherine Horn went 4-for-4 and scored three times to lead Gulf Breeze past Navarre Friday.

Anndrea Marsh and Mallory Mead both had two hits, while Anna Schundelmier and Tristan Powers both scored twice. Powers also struck out four in the win.

Lady Dolphin JV 14,

Pine Forest 1 Powers threw a four-hitter and struck out seven and scored twice in a four inning win Feb. 20.

Mead had two hits, including a triple, and four RBIs, while Marsh drove in two runs and scored three times.

Lady Dolphin ninth grade

4-4, Pace ninth grade 2-14

Sam Diaz's three hits led the Lady Dolphins took game one Thursday in Gulf Breeze, but a three run second, followed by a six run third, allowed Pace to salvage a split.

Jessica Watson, Maggie Mitchell and Sarah Thibodeaux all singled and scored in game one, while Rachel Viglione, Marsh and Diaz all had two hits in game two.

The Lady Dolphins host Washington today.
