BLYTH Mary Jean Blyth passed away on February 2, 2007 at the age of 84 years. She was surrounded by loved ones and friends and left this life in peace. Mary was born on January, 8, 1923 in New York City. In her early years, she lived in Bogata and Cartegena, Columbia, and spent her grade school years in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Mary attended boarding school during her high school years at Georgetown Visitation Convent in Washington D.C., and she graduated from the College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, New York. After graduation from college, Mary worked at various jobs in Manhasset, Long Island, before pursuing a teaching position in Aruba, Netherlands West Indies. She attended New York University, Columbia University, and Hofstra College. She found her first teaching position with Standard Oil of New Jersey, teaching grammar school in Aruba. In Aruba, Mary met and fell deeply in love with a fellow employee and refinery engineer, Randolph Blyth. Randy and Mary were married on July 21, 1951, and their first child, Peter was born while they were still in Aruba. Mary and Randy lived in Springfield, Massachusetts from 1953 to 1965 during which time John, David, and Sally were born. The Blyth family moved to Gulf Breeze in 1966 and fell in love with Florida. Mary was active in tennis and made many lifelong friends over their next 40 years in Gulf Breeze and Pensacola. Her energy, compassion, and her smile will be remembered forever by all those who had the pleasure to know and love her. Mary was preceded in death by her son, Christopher, and her parents, Henry and Josephine Pelkey. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Randy Blyth of Pensacola; her daughter Sally and Pat Sullivan of Pensacola, and three sons, Peter and Donna Blyth of Valrico, Florida, John and Katherine Blyth of Tallahassee, Florida, and David and Melinda Blyth of Lafayette, Colorado. She is also survived by the loving families of each of her children, and is blessed with thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
