This week on Pensacola Beach
Free music continues as concert bands meet

Free concerts and great band music continue through Sunday, March 4 as the Association of Concert Bands convenes on Pensacola Beach. All concerts occur at the Hilton Garden Inn, 12 Via de Luna Drive.

The convention includes clinics, special luncheons for association members and nightly concerts, which are open to the public.

The highlight of the event is for conventioneers to play in a special band under the direction of Dr. Lowell Graham from the University of Texas at El Paso. Graham is the former Commander and Conductor of the U.S. Air Force Band in Washington D.C.

Other guest bands are chosen to perform by audition. The convention is hosted by the Pensacola Civic Band.

Scheduled public events include:

Thursday, March 1

7:30 p.m.: Mobile Pops from Mobile, Ala.

8:45 p.m.: Tallahassee Winds from Tallahassee

Friday, March 2

8 p.m.: Baton Rouge Concert Band from Baton Rouge, La.

9:15 p.m.: Plano Community Band from Plano, Texas

Saturday, March 3

3 p.m.: Association of Concert Bands Convention Band, conducted by Dr. Lowell Graham,

7:30 p.m.: Gainesville Community Band

8:45 p.m.: Pensacola Civic Band

Concerts take place in the Ballroom of the Hilton Garden Inn on Pensacola Beach and are free and open to the public. For details, call Robin Rowan at 433-1319.
